Hilltopper
Great showing by Akron fans. We were louder than the entire BG contingent. Their attendance was terrible for senior night and the last game in that Memorial Hall clone before opening up the new arena.I think they still have one more season at Anderson.Stroh Center is a 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Bowling Green, Ohio that is currently in the planning stages. It is scheduled to start construction in Fall 2009 and be completed in 2012.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stroh_Center
The Hip Zip
Random thoughts.....We had a terrific time on the trip. As old and outdated as it is, Anderson Arena is a really fun place to watch a game. I'll kind of miss how that place can make two thousand fans sound like ten thousand.Once again we draw the wonderful Jim Ferrari on the officiating crew. I'll say it again, he is one of the two poorest refs in the conference and seems to love blowing the whistle against the Zips. I do not know how it looked on TV but from courtside it appeared to be a very biased crew. How we got this clown for two games in a row is beyond me.I thought we won the game on the offensive glass in the first half which let us stetch the lead out on second chance points. Nitro was also tremendous in the first half with his 3/3 and the bomb to end the half. There was probably no bigger shot in the game than Humpty's 3 ball when the Falcons closed it to four late. B McKnight was very, very good and C McKnight did a lot of good things that do not show up in the box score. He spent a lot of time checking the huge Polk down low and did a pretty good job of it.The Zip fans were louder and did a hell of a job. Mad props to Mr. McKnight who was in rare form with his quote of the day: " YOU DON'T KNOW ME" to a BG fan who suggested the he should relax a bit. Too funny ! D-rob shoots the first 2 and then the refs decided to review the play on TV to find out if it was 2 or 3 Aren't you supposed to do that before the first 2 free throws??? ziptrumpet87
not to mention the travelling call at the end of the game with less than a second left

When we got to 10 they weren't sure if we had 10 or 9. BG player missed the first FT, BG got the rebound and dribbled around for a good 7 or 8 seconds before the refs decided to go over to the scorers table and spend 5 minutes figuring it out.The play where C.McKnight stole the ball at mid-court and drove coast to coast pretty obviously should have been an and one.In the 2nd half, I forget what Akron player got absolutely mugged on the way to the rim, no call. Other end, Nitro gets called for a cheap touch foul.At the end of the game there were some really questionable calls. First was the jump ball with Conyers where he was clearly just getting hacked by two BG players. The whistle for the jumpt came quickly and definitively. On another play Nik came down with the rebound off of a BG miss and the refs called a real quick travel.Again, I'm not one to generally complain about refs. Especially when we win, but yesterday was just embarassing. I really hope we can get some good refs for the Can't game. It would be a damn shame to put that kind of a crew on the floor in primetime on national TV.

Mr. McKnight is amazing! I thought the greatest quote of the day from him was when Ronnie missed that dunk, he turned to Mr. Steward (who quickly pretended to be texting) and said, "Come on dad! He's gotta get up there and GET THAT!" Of course, that was jokingly, but it was still hilarious!

The traveling call with .8 seconds left was a joke. Maybe the refs needed to cover their bet in Vegas.
The Hip Zip
Good feedback, I was really curious as to how the game looked through other eyes be it either live or on TV. I have never been one to blame the results of a game on poor officiating but between Ferrari and Scirotto the game itself takes a backseat to their antics. At least we shouldn't have to look at Ferrari again on Friday. In my view, the best we could hope for is Sauder, Sanzere and Skiles.PS: Ronnie, please just lay it up next time. tpsjugglerdude
PS: Ronnie, please just lay it up next time.We got 3 pts instead of 2. I'm fine with Ronnie trying to dunk. We need more of our players to dunk it gets the crowd into the game more.

How about when the official handed McNees the ball to inbounds under our hoop and then he had to grab it back from Steve as he noticed the kid was on the floor sweeping up the wet spots...What do these guys pay attention to? The poor calls made it nearly impossible to watch in person. We win that game going away with a fairly called game.
