RootforRoo44
Delete topics because I bring up a valid point? Dambrot isnt a saint. He choked again, blows another MAC tourney title, and inflates it all with his weak and soft OOC schedules.Sad.....Or are we not allowed to say anything bad about Dambrot and just blame it on the refs? The moderators have always censored topics regarding Dambrot. They hate when their beloved coach gets slammed but lets be honest, he did not coach a bad game today. Though i would have personally had Zeke in a lot more in overtime, i cant say he was outcoached. It would be nice if Zipsnation was a little better at not deleting topics that the moderators didnt agree with however. This seems to happen a lot. You are the one being juvenile trying to call me out on a supposed "juvenile ranting" when all i did was ask why you deleted a post i made where i stated that you should not have deleted a few posts instead of just deleting an entire thread. Of course you deleted the posts that were defending the national guard during the Can't state shootings and my mention that a family member of mine was present at it but not the posts claiming that Zips fans were bringing up May 4th as a joke.Though Zipsnation is great, you continually give it a bad name with your unneeded censorship of a supposed "open forum". I didn't know this was your own private club where people's opinions are suppressed when they do not agree with you.

Dave in Green
Internet forums are private clubs. Someone invests the time and money to make them happen, and dues-paying members are free to express their opinions.Part of the dues you pay for belonging to these private clubs is that you have to abide by the rules set by the owners. Since no two people can ever agree all the time about everything, let alone hundreds or thousands of people, there is inevitable disagreement over interpretation of exactly what is or should be within or outside the boundaries of the rules.Everyone is free to state their opinions, but the owners always get the final word because they own the joint and the rest of us are just guests. You've been here long enough to realize how this is run. You will never have a say--you are still and student AND you weren't college buds with any of the mods on here. I love ZNO but I totally see where you're coming from. It's best to just let it slide. At least we have alumni who are involved enough to host their own forum unlike a certain portage county "university"!
bUAkronG
hey R4R, if you don't like how the forum is run, piss off. It's not like you have very insightful contributions anyway. there are plenty people here who seem to have no problem with the moderation. Captain Kangaroo
It's funny...Dave in Green complains the ZipsNation moderators let everything go. He hates that the board is so recklessly under-moderated. RFR claims the board is some extreme dictatorship where every controversial post is censored. I'm sure both are 100% certain their opinion is 100% correct. Even though they are totally opposite. A few quick notes about the moderators: I pay for this site. ZipWatcher has also paid for a portion. In addition, he dedicates a lot of time to the board's technical and aesthetic upkeep. By paying for, and constructing ZipsNation, we get the privilege of moderating it's tone. Unlike most people who've whined and groused about Zips sports coverage over the years, we actually did something about it. We constructed ZipsNation. And 100,000 posts later, and over 1,000,000 views later, we feel is has been highly successful. The moderators take pride in the Zips program, and the image of the Zips fan. That's why we created our board independently, unlike K.e.n.t., who piggy-backs off the MACbbs board. We wanted ZipsNation to be "a cut above." We feel we've been successful. If a member posts something ignorant, or which reflects poorly on the image of a Zips fan, we reserve the right to delete it. RFR yukked it up on ZipsNation when someone hit a girl in the face with an ice ball after the K.e.n.t. game. He followed that up with a rant on the May 4th shootings, which has no place on a Zips Sports forum. Both posts were deleted. They reflect poorly on ZipsNation. Deleted or modified posts are extremely rare. Issuing a "warning" happens every one or two years. D.I.G is correct...we let pretty much everything go. We typically go months without touching a post. If your post was modified or deleted, you crossed a line. To summarize - If you don't like ZipsNation, no one is forcing you to read it. Or post. Since you didn't pay a dime for it... just walk away. We'll survive.
Zippysgotagun
I, for one, appreciate all the hard work and money the mods spend to keep the site running. Never really had a beef with them on either side of the censorship coin. +1. Thanks, Mods. I read ZNO more closely and often than the newspaper. ZNO makes every Zips success and failure more interesting. It is a welcome distraction from my everyday work. I would love to meet some of the members of ZNO and particularly the mods at future Zips events. Would be awesome to put faces with the screen names. I am overjoyed that ZNO is yet another dimension that makes us a "cut above" that wasteland of an institution to the east.
Zip Watcher
To follow-up CK's comments. A bunch of folks have contributed resources here and there over the years. For the past few years, CK's been great in keeping the software license up to date, and I've been happy to provide the hosting .. it's not a big thing to do these things. I think w00t's gonna be helping soon too We don't need tons of affirmation about all of this .. we love the Zips .. we know the Nation is a sleeping giant .. and we enjoy it. You guys / girls coming here as often as you do is confirmation enough for me to know our time & $$$ are well spent here. On the other hand .. we have lives. We have families, kids & jobs. We're NOT students or retirees with extensive free time. And we do our best to keep an eye on what we can. But when the drumbeat starts that someone feels persecuted or offended by the moderators in what they do, or fail to do .. it starts to wear us down, at least me. Seems to me to happen about once ever 16 months or so. Periodically, it appears it's the moderator's fault after a big loss .. but whatever. I'm accused of being Nanny State when I trim things that aren't Joey friendly, and ask that the language used be congenial .. and CK gets hammered for letting too much go. I was talking to Elton Alexander one time this season and told him I appreciated his coverage of late. He laughed and said I was the only one .. that both Can't State & UA fans thought he was horrible. My conclusion for him was that he must be doing a decent job of playing it down the middle if everyone dislikes him. That's my same takeaway on the moderation topic. It's probably going ok if the students think we're persecuting and over moderating them and the more seasoned Zips fan thinks things are out of control. Thanks for being a part of this. B) B) Go Zips!

Never really had a beef with them on either side of the censorship coin. +1 also. I've had the pleasure of meeting CK and ZW on a couple occasions, and they're great guys that share a passion for our Zips with a lot of us that frequent the Nation daily (multiple times ). Anyways, we have the best set up on the web of any team in the MAC, and better than some of the Big 6. Myself just being around active on the site for just over 3 years, I've seen it grow exponentially. I was member 374 back in February of 06, and I'm sure we're pushing 10k now (maybe the mods can clear up a ballpark registered user number?). That's a big jump. I'm not sure how long ZN was around before '06, but still. We're proud, growing, and as fans, Zipsnation is actually a very big part of it. Heck, we've gotten pub in the PD and the ABJ! Dave in Green
It's funny...Dave in Green complains the ZipsNation moderators let everything go. He hates that the board is so recklessly under-moderated. ..... Lordy, lordy. Just when I thought I had caught up with all of the misrepresentations of my position on various subjects posted on ZN.O, I stumble back across this thread that I'd lost track of. I'll tell you, if I believed all the exaggerations the good Captain made about me, I'd really get to hatin' on myself. For historical purposes, here are a few of many items that CK has overlooked in making the above comment: One of the reasons that I participate here but not on other sports forums is because Zips Nation is dedicated to maintaining civil discussion. ..... It's that level of care that makes ZN such a special place. ..... Thoughtful moderating is sometimes the only thing that stands between responsible freedom of speech and total anarchy. ..... I agree with about 98% of the moderating decisions made on ZN, and disagree with about 2%. ..... .....I'd like to think he and other parents of recruits would be able to read Zips Nation without seeing the kind of offensive trash-talking that goes on in so many other sports forums. ..... Etc., etc.
