johnnyzip84
So does the Lynch firing at Indiana help with our recruiting? With them being a bottom level big 10 team we do go head to head with them for a number of recruits. Maybe Hoobler from Orrville will decide he made a mistake and transfer to Akron. Lynch Firing I was wondering the same thing. Perhaps it might put St V's Mark Murphy back in play for UA? Interestingly, three coaches who defeated the Zips this year all lost their jobs in the last week or so.

RootforRoo44
Don't know if this has been brought up but Akron needs to get on this early. Corey Smith is one hell of a raw talent, and believe it or not he can actually catch passes! Something the Zips surely need.

LOL...yes because our 1-11 record and empty stadium really proves that, hey the grass in greener over here? "Maybe I should have went to Akron because..." johnnyzip84
Christian Brumbaugh will play for a PA state championship and he is only 51 yards shy of setting the all-time WPIAL record for career passing yards, set by a familiar name who shredded past Zip defenses. If we can't land a stud JUCO QB, I hope we add this kid (another HSQB Kyle Pohl has already given a verbal) to the class of 2011. The only caution is his statement about not liking to throw in windy conditions. Maybe it's just me, but the Info seems to have more than its share of windy days. Edit: He's only in the state semis at this point.

Dave in Green
..... Maybe it's just me, but the Info seems to have more than its share of windy days. Not just windy, but unpredictably windy. You can see by following the smoke from the fireworks that it just swirls around and around the stadium in odd patterns. In fact, that's really what I had in mind. The Buffalo game was a great example. It was really hard to understand why the UB punter was kicking it with such a low trajectory early in the game until it became obvious that he was kicking into a strong wind on those occasions. There wasn't much evidence of that type of wind based on flag movement in both end zones or the conditions in the stands.

ZachTheZip
A third verbal today. Wow. LB Jawan Poole chooses Akron. I put all three up on the first page, where you can find a list of all the Akron commits so far.
ZachTheZip
According to several sources, this recruiting class is supposed to be heavy on JUCOs. But so far I see 14 verbals out of a 25-person class, all high schoolers, leaving 11 spots to fill. How many JUCOs counts as being more than usual? We saw 3-5 per year under Brookhart, so I have to imagine that we should see 7-10 to be considered "a lot". That's a large percentage of the remaining spots. johnnyzip84
South Fayette QB Christian Brumbaugh has been offered. I'll bet this means that a JUCO QB is unlikely in this class. The poster former known as UAkronKid had already reported that Zach Stoudt was likely headed to Mississippi. Rivals Profile He just verbaled William & Mary according to Scout. Had more FCS offers than FBS ones. I don't think we're hurting too badly in the future QB department. In addition to Dylan Potts who got some playing time this season, Zach D'Orazio will be on campus next month, and we have 3-star Kyle Pohl coming in as well. And if Matt Rodgers ever gets healthy, we have plenty of depth and hopefully one of them turns out to be a game-changer.
