The more I look at the pictures of the stadium in this thread, the more I like it. I really like the seating behind the goal. Even though we don't have one large grandstand, I think this seating will give us a distinct Home Field Advantage. BTW, did anyone else notice that on Google Maps they have FINALLY updated the area around campus? It can't be more than a few weeks old as the soccer field is ripped up.

Thats awesome, glad you can see the stadium and not those dang rinky dink dorms that used to be there. But they still need to update the "streetview" because all they show is a big pile of dirt where the stadium is. Hopefully Bing will update sometime soon as well, they have a "birds eye" view which would be cool to see of the stadium.

Some pics from today.

The out-of-towners thank you. I think its looking very good and since the grandstands are apparently a year earlier than they were supposed to be and it looks like they are easily expandable, this is a nice reward for the best athletic program at the University.

I love the red brick they are putting in everything now. It looks really good. I am also glad that they are finally putting in restrooms, nothing is more distracting that the "parade" to the Union every half.

Let's sell out this new stadium and give them a good reason to expand that grandstand!! :D

No problem. I haven't been over to campus that often lately; so, I know how it is to want to see pictures. Sorry all I had was my cell phone camera.

Well, I stopped by the new Soccer stadium today and took some pictures....but of course my wife left the memory card at HOME in the COMPUTER! :wall: Anyway, it looks good. I think it will give quite a nice atmosphere. The east stands are elevated so that the Rowdies can stand in front and everyone else behind can see. Can't wait to hit a game this year!

They're still working on the locker rooms. Nothing has started in regards to the grandstand yet. They have two weeks from today to get it done. First game is a women's soccer game on the 20th, where all the men's season ticket holders can pick up their scarves and ticket packages (if you can't make it they'll mail them to you). So 14 days to complete it. But in just 7 days the women's team is playing an exhibition game against Wright State, so it have to in at least good enough condition to allow fans to watch. I don't see the grandstand (and pressbox) being finished by Friday next week.

Rumor is that it will not be completed until the first men's scrimmage on the 25th. They're working hard, but the time frame was short on this.

It's disappointing that the contractor isn't progressing a little more quickly. It's amazing what can be done when you are really dedicated to completing something, such as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, but perhaps it requires a LOT of money.

Hopefully, they will complete the assembly of the bleachers behind each goal prior to the 1st Women's scrimmage; the south stands area can be blocked off with a "construction fence".

Hippo-- go to home page this site and page down to 'Fan Groups'. You're welcome

That may not be entirely current, knowing how gozips.com keeps things up-to-date. The Rowdies have recently opened their own website, http://www.akrowdies.org

Sign-ups will be held on Welcome Weekend, August 21st and 22nd.

As a commuter I won't be on campus that weekend. Will they also have sign ups during the opening week?
