zip37 Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Egner 23 pts 11 reb as they beat Gahanna Lincoln by 12, good shot of Josh dunking on OHSAA site, check it out. STO will carry the championship game tomorrow nite, I understand. Quote
RACER Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 i hope this kid can give us some min at the 3 spot.we need somebody to replace jimmy conyers at the 3. we would have a frontline of mc night, zeke, nik with egner helping out the frontline players.if he could give us 10 min a game of solid defense with a little offense that would be fine.i know alott of zips are worried about our guards.i am more worried about the frontline depth because right now we don't have any.we really need two of the freshman to play min,but absolutley have to have one of them step up.if not bardo would be the next guy for alott of min.i am not saying that is bad.i think bardo could back up zeke 10 mn a game, and be fine. we could also go with a three guard offense in certain situations.we could have three guards with nik,and zeke out there.i just think this team will be kd's hardest job yet.with humpty, steve, roberts,mc clanhan, steward we should be fine.i just wish we went more up tempo with these guys.a little full court pressure would not hurt. you have five guards so why not use them all.dakota looks to me more like a four-five player.he can step out and make some three's which will help.i have not seen anything on green yet. Dave in Green Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 The STO broadcast tonight is supposed to be in high def. I want to see one of those Egner monster dunks on the big screen in high def! More discussion on Egner's performance in the basketball recruiting forum here: Egner Recruiting Thread Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 I was reading an article the other day about JJ Hickson of the Cavs. They said that at NC State, they described him as a man among boys. Egner seems to fit that description at the high school level at least. Bring home that state trophy Josh. Next year, you'll have a chance to kiss the MAC Championship trophy. Quote

I said the same thing about Egner in the basketball recruiting forum after the first time I saw him play. I hope that many of you who haven't seen Egner will have a chance to watch the game on STO tonight and share your opinions here. Quote
zippyfan34 Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Jackson highlights on STO. Just showed the off the backboard dunk. Awesome. Quote
zippyfan34 Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Egner struggling a little offensively after the first quarter but two huge blocks on the defensive end. Jackson up 1 after the first quarter. Quote
Blue & Gold Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Egner likes to block shots like Bron-Bron! Quote
Dave in Green Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Egner's shooting was a bit off in the first quarter, but how about those two blocks? The first one on the 6-9 Xavier recruit was good. But that second block near the end of the quarter was about as athletic as anything I've seen in the NCAA tournament. Quote

Blue & Gold Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Egner's 3 was a little short. But it was on-line and he's got good, smooth form on the J. Quote
Dave in Green Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Halftime score is 20-15 Jackson. Those watching the game have gotten a good look at the nice, soft shooting touch of Mark Henniger. You can see why Can't signed him. He is smooth and consistent, while Egner is the wild card. Egner has been altering shots on the defensive end and then controlling the rebounds. Quote
zippyfan34 Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Jackson up 20-15 at half. Moeller seems very tentative on offense. Henniger is matched up with a 6-9 kid going to Xavier and Egner is defending a 6-1 kid where Egner is just playing help defense as evidenced by his two help side blocks. I hope Moeller picks up the pace a little cause I want to see Egner get something in the open floor. Quote
Blue & Gold Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Actually, I can't be the only one thinking Moeller doesn't look very impressive, no? They're rather slow & are looking to milk the clock. I was expecting more. Frankly, I'd take Buchtel, Kenmore, St.V or even East over these stiffs. But they have been successful in slowing the pace, which seems to be the only chance they have. The slow pace won't likely play to Egner's strength. Henniger seems to be more of the half-court-set kinda guy. Quote
zippyfan34 Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Jackson's bigs of Henniger and Egner get a lot of press, but even though their guards aren't flushy, they are very solid and getting the job done today. Jacson on a 5-0 run to start the half. Quote
Dave in Green Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Wow. Jackson opens the second half with a 12-0 run, and leads 32-15 halfway through the third quarter. Quote
zippyfan34 Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 The lefty guard for Jackson is having a huge game. Could be our fourth recruit next year? Just kidding. Jackson up 32-15 with 3:38 left in third. How did Moeller make it to the finals? Quote
Blue & Gold Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Dude, Moeller blows. They would have finished 5th in the City Series this year. They're not sniffing the paint w/ Egner & Henniger down there. They're just crappin' their pants against those two. Quote
zippyfan34 Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 End of 3. Jackson up 44-20. Egner finally got his first slam towards the end of the quarter. Hopefully he will get two more in the fourth and then as time winds down, make sure you listen to the fans in the background. You will hear a familiar, "I believe" chant. Quote
Dave in Green Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Amazing quarter, with Jackson outscoring Moeller 24-5 for a 44-20 lead going into the final quarter. Egner finally hits a bucket, and then follows with one of his patented slams. He has definitely controlled the defensive end. Jackson peaked at the right time, and may be one of the top few HS basketball teams in the country right now. Quote
GoZips88 Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Can't wait to watch Egner and Zeke lurk on the defensive end next year. Egner is always looking to make a play and is always working to put himself in good position on the floor. Quote

Egner is always looking to make a play and is always working to put himself in good position on the floor. Definatly seems very smart on help defense. Always looking to come from the weak side to make a block. I still want to see how he does against guys his size. Moeller has a 6-9 kid who likes to shoot 3's and their next biggest starter was 6-1. Quote
Blue & Gold Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 UTTER paint domination. Moeller look like the proverbial deer in headlights anywhere inside the 3-point arc. The boys are REALLY making Akron & Can't look good. Quote
GoZips88 Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 The announcers mentioned that Xavier coaches are there to watch their 6'9" Moeller guy. I wonder what they're thinking about the two guys who got away from them to the MAC? Quote
GoZips88 Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 That's the second time I've seen Egner lock arms with a guy and send him flying - sneaky dirty Quote
