Buckzip Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Article on the Scout Ohio State site stating Erick Howard will not be playing at Akron. Didn't read the article, just the headline. Talks about an epiphany. Many of us had it about this clown a long time ago. Surprise, surprise. Quote

Buckzip Posted April 24, 2010 Author Report Posted April 24, 2010 You could literally knock me over with a feather right now He's going to Fork Union hoping to get into OSU. I don't like the kid as a Zip fan or Buckeye fan. He played Akron. He never wanted to be here and was being dishonest and now breaks his word. That shows me character issues. If he didn't want to be here, then he shouldn't have signed an LOI. Quote
Blue & Gold Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Like you said, surprise, surprise. Whatever. Anyhow, I'm just a hair less excited about Gorgio Bowers than I was about Howard. On film, Gorgio looks quite a bit more explosive than Howard anyway. Howard was your typical north-south guy. Gorgio is a slab of muscle but can also juke a bit & run away from D-1 players. I'm not so confident about Howard's breakaway speed; just by watching film I think it may have been exagerated if it was listed @ 4.5. Plus Gorgio can stay academically eligible too! Lol. Quote

ZachTheZip Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Any unsigned players out there that are still interested in a spot at Akron. We have a roster spot open. Maybe this guy is still interested in getting a free education and playing in a top-notch stadium on a beautiful campus. Quote
GP1 Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 That shows me character issues. He should fit right in at tOSU then. He should get three days in the bank right now for when the inevitable DUI hits. It will save him the time of serving the three days once he gets there. Quote

Blue & Gold Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 Well, I'm watching the Ohio North-South All-Star football game and it appears Tyson Gulley beat out Howrd for the starting) spot for the North. Idk, maybe Howard will get a bit of PT later in the game. Btw, Dylan Potts made the first tackle of the game. Quote
Blue & Gold Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 It's halftime & Howard has only gotten a couple of carries - whenever Tyson Gulley wants a breather. Tyson is obviously the man on the North squad & Tyson may not even make the Top 10 list of RB's from Akron in the past 10 years. So hey Erick, good riddance & don't let the screen door hit you! Lol. Which Zip has made the police blotter in the last five years? Every year, a Buckeye graces the pages of newspapers around the country with his off the field exploits involving drinking and a car. It's really OK to admit you are OK with the off the field exploits as long as they win. I would feel that way if I like tOSU, why can't everyone else just admit it? Quote

Maybe this guy is still interested in getting a free education and playing in a top-notch stadium on a beautiful campus. Taylor Miller, to whom this links refers, signed with Toledo. While none of us is too surprised by Howards decision, I am OK with a couple of high-risk, high-reward, type players a year (Devoe Torrence, Erick Howard, David Harvey). I know none has panned out as we'd like so far, but if you have a chance at a high level talent, you go for it as long as those players don't dominate your roster. Also, if they leave, it gives you an open slot to grab someone who may have slipped through the cracks up to this point. I try not to take it personally when these kinds of situations occur, after all I'm sure the kid doesn't care about what decisions I make. Quote

I could sit here and name many Akron players that have had their issues. i could also name many OSU players as well. The thing is I don't do that for my alma maters. When a player from a big time football school gets in trouble, it is on ESPN and the world knows it. When a player from a smaller football school gets in trouble, unless it is a major crime, you do't hear about it. Hell, outside of Akron most didn't even know about CJ11. If this was a major program that had their starting QB kicked off the team for this type of thing, ESPN would start off their show for a month discussing it. Quote

OSWho is the kind of school that gives scum like Maurice Clarett a free ride as well tons of free stuff and gets away with it. Also, Ohio State has plenty more players each year that gets in trouble with the law. Btw, how can you be fans of both schools? I dont give a crap if you went there, pick one. Ohio State stands for everything that is wrong with college sports and the dominance by the money makers. I wouldn't be caught dead in red and gray and i definitely wouldnt root for a school that takes away our recruits. Quote

RootforRoo44 Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Like I always say I don't care if Akron loses every game, at least I'm not an person who brags about a school I have no connection to. I don't understand all these OSU people can be a fan of a school they have no connection to. If you didn't go there, you can't root for them. Hey how many people go to UA, but are Can't fans...ZERO! That's the way it should be. They think just because they live in Ohio that they are die hard OSU fans. Well I guess using that theory you can all root for the Bobcats. I'm not from Ohio so I hate OSU, I'm from PA and I hate PSU. I go to freaking Akron and I'm a ZIPS FAN. I say the ushers at the Info never again let anyone inside if they are wearing red and grey uh oh, i hope you know Buckzip is the one bringing his entire family to the games decked out in OSU jerseys. He might grace your post with 3 smileys, watch out. Quote

Dr Z Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 I say the ushers at the Info never again let anyone inside if they are wearing red and greyWith the attendance the way it is at football & basketball games, I don't think the Zips should turn down anybody right now. I'm pretty sure they even let in fans from the team we are playing. The only one that gets me is when you see OSU gear on Akron's sidelines (football). That should not be tolerated at any time. As long as every Walmart in the Akron area sells OSU gear you are going to continue to see it in the stands at Akron. At least those people are paying for a ticket and attending a game. Next time you see someone like that, just say "hey, thanks for driving up from Cowlumbus to support our Zips we appreciate it" Quote
