MDZip
Like I always say I don't care if Akron loses every game, at least I'm not an person who brags about a school I have no connection to. I don't understand all these OSU people can be a fan of a school they have no connection to. If you didn't go there, you can't root for them. Hey how many people go to UA, but are Can't fans...ZERO! That's the way it should be. They think just because they live in Ohio that they are die hard OSU fans. Well I guess using that theory you can all root for the Bobcats. I'm not from Ohio so I hate OSU, I'm from PA and I hate PSU. I go to freaking Akron and I'm a ZIPS FAN. I say the ushers at the Info never again let anyone inside if they are wearing red and grey Guess I can't cheer for Akron since I never went there. And no "Joe Akron" can cheer for the Zips because they have no connection besides living in the city. What a ridiculous argument. Cross me off too fellas .. never took a class at the U. Sucks I'm not welcome. Hold it - weren't you just named basketball fan of the year? (Congrats by the way). You better get that registration together in a hurry before you get banned from the games. Look guys, I get the point some of you are trying to make. For a long time OSU was the only major program in the entire state. I remember it being fun listening to the radio in my dads old truck when I was a kid when Archie Griffin and Cornelious Greene and Pete Johnson were playing. That was back when Akron was still a Division II school, so people who have been around long enough still remember the era when that was the case. I think it's great that Akron is developing a more passionate fan base but a little historical perspective can sometimes make you view things in a different light. One of the best things about Akron athletics even at this point in time is getting in on the "ground floor". Its fun to root for a school that has some really good things going for it, whether it is your alma mater or not. And like it or not, one perception of a school is is public sports profile. As an example, I guarantee you that applications to attend Butler will go up next year. I get good comments almost every time I wear Zips gear anywhere I am in the country. I don't care in the least what happens at any other school (well maybe Can't if it's bad) unless it directly impacts the Zips.

Well written and definitely someone that has a little perspective on things. The reasons I have slowly but surely become a true borderline diehard Akron fan are too numerous to mention, and not many would care if I did mention them. But there are many reasons to be a fan of a team, school, city, etc. Go X! Go Bucks! Go BC! Go Zips!

scottditzen
LOL, he looks like he's really struggling here. Then you see his skinny little "bird legs" and that's probably why!! He's gonna have to bulk up a bit if he wants to play on the team. ...so will Howard be a Zip or not?
Zipmeister
I heard a rumor he may be attending a prep school next year. Even if he never becomes a zip, he will regularly be using a zipper.

Has anyone else hear the rumor that David Harvey has solved his family problems, and wants to come home to Akron? Oh, wait, April 1st was three weeks ago. timmyboy
After seeing howard in the Ohio North VS South all star game last friday night at ohio stadium, i realized he had to be one of the most overrated and overhyped players to ever win the MR ohio award. Against competition on the same level as he was supposed to be, he was getting used. He was not the best RB in the game and most definately wasent the best player in the game. Way overhyped. won be a big loss for us that he will not be a zip, because IMHO i would take our top 3 RB over howard. In that game, he showed how lazy he was as a player. They had him playing alot of linebacker, and i actually seen him try to bump a ballcarrier out of bounds instead of putting the hit on him. After spending last thusrday and friday at ohio state and going to their practices and interacting with the players, i know for a fact he will NEVER see the field ahead of a Jamal Berry, Bo Delane, Jordan Hallor any of the other young RB they have...... he will have to settle for a low level BCS team.
