This year will be tricky to predict. Nobody knows how the new offense and defense will take hold with the players, nobody knows if the new coaching staff has any idea what they're doing, and then there's the usual MAC weirdness where great teams become terrible overnight and bad teams suddenly go bowling.

If things go well, I think we'll beat one of the BCS teams on the schedule. We'll beat Gardner-Webb no matter how poorly things go. Then the MAC portion of the schedule happens. NIU will be good, very good, so I'll say we lose to them. We will beat Can't. For some reason, we always give Ohio problems, but I don't see us winning in Athens without a little luck. We should beat Western at home, lose to Temple on the road, beat Ball State, Miami, and Buffalo.

A good season gets us 8-4 with losses to two BCS teams, NIU, and Temple.

A poor season gets us 3-9 beating GW, Can't, and Buffalo.

Most likely we'll go 5-7 with one of those "miracle ending" wins that we always seem to pull off once a year.

Its early, but:

Syracuse win(1-0) They will be one of the worst teams in the country this year.

Gardner-Webb win(2-0) This is the Runnin' Bulldogs "ATM" game.

at Kentucky loss(2-1) They play Western Kentucky before Akron, so they should be rested.

at Indiana loss(2-2) They also play Western Kentucky before akron, so the should be rested.

Northern Illinois (Homecoming) loss(2-3) They are good and will take advantage of a new coach in his first homecoming game.

at Can't loss(2-4) Before anyone says that I am crazy, let me explain: It's the Wagon Wheel game. They will not win the MAC, they wont even win the East. They will show up for this game(I mean the team, not the fans of Can't).

at Ohio win(3-4) This is always an toss up game. The Zips will be more than pissed off that they loss to Can't and looking to make an example out of someone. Ohio will be the first thing they will see.

Western Michigan loss(3-5) I almost put this as a win, but I changed my mind because they have a "ATM" game the week before (Notre Dame) and looking to beat down on someone.

at Temple loss(3-6) As much as I think that they are using the MAC, Captain Kangaroo was right by saying that the conference to look to them on how to build a program.

at Ball State win(4-6) Let's face it: Ball State Stinks and I do't even think that they willl win the EMU game!

Miami (Ohio) loss(4-7) Looking at who they play this year. They have TWO winnable games this year. Akron is one and Ohio is the other.

Buffalo win(5-7) Buffalo will be somewhat down this year and the Zips will finish on a good note. The question becomes, who will be there to see it?

There you go an complete breakdown of this season :CK_brew:

For those interested in more details:

The kicking game hurts us at IU as a 1 for 5 field goal performance convinces Icoach to cut back on attempts the rest of the year.

The offense goes to sleep against MU: 3 for 15 on third down attempts.

Punt return and kickoff return for TDs against the Bulls a season highlight.

I am with you guys, a record of 5-7 maybe 6-6 is within the Zips reach. Anything more is a nice surprise; anything less a disappointment.

Heck, its Akron athletics, surprises DO HAPPEN------>SOCCER------> :NCAAC:

I'll stick with my predictions from last month (May).

Ken+ & GW are gimmies, the team should be able to win two more home games, and one more road game giving them 5.

I'm basing all of this on the progress of PN7 (seeing him in all of 7 games last year). If Alex Allen stays healthy throughout the year, give us another win somewhere, he is that good, but hasn't proven to be reliable (probably my favorite player on the team). If we turn our defense around, pressure the QB, stop the run and get the ball back to the offense, maybe one more, that's very optimistic, but it's May I'm allowed to be. If our special teams play like last year, take a win away, but I'm expecting iCoach to improve this area.

Zach, this month you predict 5 wins, last month 2, what's next month gonna be?

What changed since you thought "we're crap, the coach is crap, the talent is crap"?

Wow. You mention the QB situation, the running game, our defense, our pressure on the QB, and our ability to stop the run.

You might have been better off to just say that everything that went poorly last year needs to go good this year in order for us to win 5 games.

And as much as I am hoping for bigger and better things..I'd have to agree with you. :thumb:

Focusing on the positive.....I predict we will dominate the first part of the second quarter of every game.

5-7 and no off-field side shows.

A nice improvement from last year.
