Can't be worse than the 42-10 drubbing in Toledo back in 97 in a snowstorm. We did a fake field goal with 2 minutes left that did not work, got the ball back and kicked a FG with no time left. Guess Lee was trying to beat the spread that day Can't be worse than Dwight Smith's last game as a Zip. I had to go in the bathroom every 10 minutes at Can't just to get warm. Or how about in 98 when we played Miami The Rubber Bowl Classic we dubbed it at the same time as columbus state and michigan. It was a cold Nov rain as I remember it sitting there with about 2000 other fans. And it certainly can't be worse than Army earlier this year. At least we should score in this one. Sorry guys, guess I am still bitter about last week and soccer getting screwed today. Bad weather and near Zip misses bring out the worst in me. I really am looking forward to the game and a victory. I'll have Frenchie on as I can tomorow night but the weather combined with a pretty full week of classes and noone to go down and enjoy the game with is gonna keep me here more than likely. I live in Columbus Ohio and have to work or I would drive 2 hours to see the game, I turn to espn2 to watch the BG, Miami game and it is delayed so the cut to the Akron game. ANd I'll be damn if the Bowl looks completely empty. I see more people at practice than there are at the RB right now. There are more people at the Massillon McK game than the university right now. Getsy is awful. And to be honest, we have been playing some boring football, so it really doesn't suprise me that nobody cares to see this game. We will never win with Getsy next year. Getsy looks great, Biggs is an animal, D looks tough and as expected the Akron community is somewhere else. Just got done fielding calls from my buds chastising me about the crowd. What can you say? I don't know if you can expect a whole lot more out of the community tonight. I was actually kinda surprised there were ANY people there with the weather threatening. I've been critical of Getsy in the past. He looked good tonight. He hit Hixon deep, he hit Jabari deep, he made the intermediate throws, he made the short throws. One thing I was impressed with the fact that he stopped trying to force the ball so much like he was early in the year. Just hope he keeps it up for the Can't game. Jabari looked MUCH better tonight. Good game for him. Defense DOMINATED. Plain dominated. What a game for them guys. I don't think the Bobkittens had a first down the entire second half. Wow! The stats don't lie. When Biggs carries for over 100yrds we win. Period. With a lil over a week off I hope he is ready to tear up the Turkey's on Thanksgiving. I'm still a little concerned about our red zone offense. We need more TD's, not FG attempts. And what the hell was with Swiger's bouncing it off the crossbar from like 15 out? No excuse for that. You gotta make that kick. I'm also concerned about the stupid penalties. We killed ourselves a number of times on drives with dumb holding calls. No excuse for that at this time in the season. Final though GO BG! By far, Brookharts biggest mistake here. I'm no huge Getsy defender, but I'd like to know at what point you wrote this post or even if you were watching the game at the time of the post. On Akron's first drive, it was all Getsy. Eight for nine passing. For the game, he went 22-32 (68.75%) for 270 yards. What else do you people want? Even if you factor out the first drive, he went 14-23 (60.97%) for the remainder of the game. This was a Charlie Fryelike game, only Getsy passed for more yards and the team won. We are in almost the exact same position we were last season. Going into the final game, we have a chance to win the MAC East and a winning season. How many people REALLY believed we would be in this position right now? If anyone wants to bitch about anything, you should be bitching about the overused screen passes that were called last night in the first half. I believe the inability of the team to move the ball was more of a function of play calling than player execution. In the second half, the offensive line took over and the play calling was better. Akron won last night for the same reason we won at OU last year, Akron had better players. Good players win games. I would be neglecting my duty if I did not mention what a great game Biggs had. You are right in that we may not win next season. Not because of Getsy, but because Biggs will not be with the team. The kid is the only winner this team has had in the past two season. Guys like him are too difficult to replace. This Thanksgiving will be the first Senior Day in a long time when I am actually going to be sad to see a player play his final game. I would agre that Biggs is a good back, but he is an even better person. A true champion at heart. I wish him well for the rest of his life and that he scceeds in whatever he does and wherever he deos it. Next year we will win. Next year is no differet nthan any other year. We had a QB and a linebacker/DE go to the NFL and we are winning this year. Inconsistant you say? YES! But, we are winning and have put ourselves in a simlar situation to last year. Go Zips...
