Hilltopper
The Zips need a new color guy for the radio brodcasts. Who from ZNO should apply? Sorry if I offended anyone by not putting your name in my poll. http://www.ohio.com/sports/100360304.html Former St. Vincent-St. Mary and Notre Dame standout Frank Stams will not return as the Zips' color analyst. Applicants can contact Dan Satter (330 972-7279). Steve French and Joe Dunn will remain on the broadcast team.
ksu sucks
Sorry I can't take this thread seriously until Zach is an option. But given those choices I'll vote for Dr. Z during football season and Quickzips for basketball. Personally, I don't contribute much to these forums, but I always appreciate their insight and opinions on each sport.
ZachTheZip
Sorry I can't take this thread seriously until Zach is an option. I would be fined into oblivion by the FCC by halftime of the first game if I talk anything like I do watching from the stands. It would be entertaining, though. Dr Z
Pat Kerwin would be my number one pick, but not realistic. Realistically I would like to see an ex NFL linebacker that shows interest in the field. Linebackers seem to know the game very well (like ex catchers in baseball) and are good communicators. I know this is a generalization, but when I think of broadcasters I like, that's what I come up with. Ex player would be my third pick. Somebody familiar with the program that has some broadcast experience. Bernie Kosar is not realistic either, but I love listening to him. I think GP1 might be entertaining though. Matt Cherry might be on my list too but I think he has a successful career already.
GP1
I think GP1 might be entertaining though. I firmly believe I would be the best for the job in almost any way of ranking the qualities of a broadcaster. With that said, I have no interest and have already respectfully declined the position. With that said, there is one guy who is friendly and gives good interviews who is available....I think. JD Brookhart. While it didn't work out for him coaching, he left the school on good terms and like a man. He knows the players. He knows the league. I think he would be a good fit. zip37
I'm just glad Stams is gone, I hope they hire someone who has played for the Zips.
johnnyzip84
I think it would be cool to have both GP1 and ITZ in the booth simultaneously, as sort of a "point, counterpoint" arrangement.
GP1
I think it would be cool to have both GP1 and ITZ in the booth simultaneously, as sort of a "point, counterpoint" arrangement. Actually, I agree with most of what ITZ has to say. I just don't agree we were watching greatness during the Owens years. They were just a continuation of the same crap that has gone on here for 20 years.

The same Matt Cherry that has the unique distinction of one of two people that have been fired from our volunteer radio station? No thanks. Hilltopper
Wow, looking at those poll #'s I see no respect for our leader, CK. I do like the GP1, ITZ combo. It would be like Howard and Dandy Don all over again.
Kangaroo Craig
What about Jerry Faust? Is Jim Dennison still coaching? he might make a good color commentator.
johnnyzip84
What about Jerry Faust? Is Jim Dennison still coaching? he might make a good color commentator. After all these years, putting Gerry to work.....I kind of like that! Besides, few would argue against the guy being a good talker. Dennison remains Walsh's only head coach during their 15 years of football (Link). Link
GP1
What about Jerry Faust? Stringing together a series of cogent sentences is critical in broadcasting......
Dr Z
What about Jerry Faust? Stringing together a series of cogent sentences is critical in broadcasting...... Myron Cope did it for years, and could hardly get one sentence out let alone a series. Sometimes color guys can just be entertaining like Bernie. GF is not the worst idea I have heard. I would be anxious to hear his first game. Although, it could also turn out like Davey Nelson

Faust doesn't drink. Bernie slurs his words like a cocaine junkie.........errrrrrr, I mean a guy who slurs his words for no reason other than he might be on cocaine........errrrrr, I mean a junkie........errrrrrr what have I gotten myself into?...Faust doesn't do coke. akron football
I like Michael Reghi he does his homework, he did the Northern Illnois game last season and spoke highly about the program making strides. I think Gilbert screwed him with the Cavs. They are probably looking for a STO guy since they switched there coverage fron FSO.
Dr Z
Myron Cope was drunk out of his mind most games. Now your just trying to make me mad. Cope is the only football announcer to be inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame and the recipient of the Pete Rozelle Award for "long-time exceptional contributions to radio and television in professional football. Cigarettes took Copes life. Cope gave the rights to The Terrible Towel (one of the greatest marketing ideas in NFL history) to the Allegheny Valley School in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. The school provides care for more than 900 people with mental retardation and physical disabilities, including Cope's autistic son. Proceeds from the Terrible Towel have helped raise $3 million for the school. He was like Herb Score, you turned your tv off and listened to the radio because you wanted to hear what he had to say. He was a little more than "drunk out of his mind."
Dr Z
I like Michael ReghiYour kidding right? The guy is a walking cliche. I feel dumber after listening to him.
akron football
No I'm not kidding, I know he's not a linebacker but I think he brings some professionalism to the game. He keeps me informed and does'nt do what most ex-players seem to do which is wheh I played or when we played ism's.

Buckzip
I like Michael ReghiYour kidding right? The guy is a walking cliche. I feel dumber after listening to him. Gotta love Reghi. He is the human tongue. He will be talking and right in the middle of his sentences he sticks his tongue out. Really odd.
