Wally B
Question on my mind..... While it's obvious in other sports It occurs to me that with the demise of the Can't and Ohio teams our main rival is a bit more vauge! While every game is a rivalry game .... WHEN YOU ARE #1 (god i love saying that) Who is the team we love to hate in soccer? A conference rival? Niu has been improving lately, Hartwick seems full of arrogant snobs who cant take losing to us....... repeatedly.... Or is it a regional game and a chance to stick it to Cleveland State??? thoughts? zippypitt
Hartwick...they are a bunch of fouling thugs who can't play at our skill level. I also take great pride in defeating Columbus State...
w00t
I think Ohio State is probably our most natural soccer rival over NIU and Hartwick even though they're in our conference. Indiana's right up there too, not sure why we're not playing them this year.

Z.I.P.
I think Ohio State is probably our most natural soccer rival over NIU and Hartwick even though they're in our conference. Indiana's right up there too, not sure why we're not playing them this year. If you go back over twenty years, our biggest rivals from the old Ohio Collegiate Soccer Conference were Cleveland State and Bowling Green. But both of these have, as they say, "fallen on hard times". We really have no rivals in our own conference, so I have to say without a bit of doubt in my mind, that the one team we have to stay on top of in our region are the hated Yeagleys of Cutter Town. Considering our own coach's pedigree, this rivaly will make some uncomfortable. But not we "old-timers". We still remember being torn apart by the play of Angelo DiBernardo, the greatest collegiate baller of my youth, and coach Yeag I's inclination to sub 10 players at a time. I'm here to school anyone who needs background on the past 35 years of Zips Soccer. Anything I don't know, that guy in Franklin County can answer -- he has even more experience than me! skip-zip
Why wouldn't it be OSWho? They are the closest high-profile school, they have a good soccer program, and it's a sport where we have beaten them several times in the last couple of years. I'm dissappointed if we are not going to play them as well. How in the world could anyone expect us to have a rivalry with Hartwick? How many people have ever heard of it? Or, could even tell you where it is located? I have to be honest. I cannot answer that last question myself.

I'm pretty sure we play OSU on September 29 in Columbus. Last time we played them in Columbus we brought more students than they did by far and ended up beating them on what I believe was their senior night. I feel like they are definitely a rival, if for no other reason than the fact that they are constantly worshiped across Ohio for supposedly being great at everything, and it feel GREAT to put them in their place with soccer. plowerman78
After how last year ended, im going to have to say Hartwick. They dont like us, we dont like them. Plus the last time I checked Hartwick's goalie is the only one who has ever got into a confrontation with us. (still his fault lol.) OSU ranks up there too bc of us being better then the big guy in the state. Also their coach hates the ROWDIES bc of a jelousy issue and how we owned there place 2 years ago. (hopefully we do the same this year ha ha.)
RootforRoo44
Hartwick...they are a bunch of fouling thugs who can't play at our skill level. I also take great pride in defeating Columbus State... +1 for both. In the MAC it's Hartwick NO DOUBT. OOC it has to be OSUcks.

Overall, I think OSWho is biggest rival; although, it's also FUN to beat Meatchicken...the Zips were the first team in that match-up to win on the other team's pitch, I believe (last season). meatwad
I would definitely have to say Ohio State. Hartwick could be if they were better although they were one of the few teams to hold a lead against us last year. And yes we do play OSU in Columbus this year. Hopefully we play better defense than we played last time we were there.
72 Roo
Got to agree with the esteemed Z.I.P. Only Indiana qualifies as a rival. They are the only team on our schedule who has the commitment to excellence that we have, who has also made us play at the top of our game to beat them and wants to play us every year. OSU has a nice team, but they are not committed to being a top 20 program. They can't recruit with us and they are amazed at the rabid following we have. Within the MAC and Ohio there are no other rivals, just teams that want to be, like Cincinnati.

ZachTheZip
Hartwick is like the Miami of MAC soccer. They're much too full of themselves.

Zip_ME87
Is Michigan or Cincinnati potentially our biggest challenge at home this fall? I would think Tulsa and Creighton would be more challenging than UM or UC. But, never take any opponent for granted.

I agree that Tulsa and Creighton will be the best two (regular season) visitors to the newly renovated Jack this year. You got my second on that. Tulsa will come wanting revenge for their loss to us in the quarter-finals and Creighton will have a lot to prove under a new coach. Both teams are very well regarded and want to play at the highest level. They just aren't as good as we are ................. on paper. We will have to come to play on those days. Luckily, the boys know it. They will not look past these two opponents. They learned from last year, if you take 'em one at a time, the Zips are damn near impossible to beat. MDZip
The only team to beat us under Porter, NIU, doesn't get a vote? I'd go with them if the distance wasn't so great.
Wally B
On the same vien, Can't can suc in fb but they are still our rival. I'm surprised no one sees CSU that way with their proximity. Talk about an opposing team having home field advantage! The Rowdies would rule Krenzler Un-dome
Z.I.P.
Hartwick is like the Miami of MAC soccer. They're much too full of themselves. I don't know much about Hartwick, except -- they ARE the only MAC opponent that has won a national championship (late 70s), though there student body was not yet alive.
