Valpo Zip Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Are the rowdies going to be in Columbus this Wednesday? It will be a shame not to have at least few hundreds to cheer for the # 1 team when playing only 2 hours away from home. You know the Buckeyes fans will be ready hoping to beat the #1 team in the state...err the nation. I am making the trip with 3-5 friends. Quote
tpsjugglerdude Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Yep there is a bus scheduled with a few spots still available. Quote
RootforRoo44 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 i just heard there were no spots available....either way, i'm taking a group of 6 down to tailgate early. Quote
jem101 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I'm heading down their with a couple friends. I know that the Rowdies' bus could take 180 people. Should be a good turnout of Akron fans. Quote
Jalapeño Zippy Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I'm heading down as well. GO Zips! Quote
plowerman78 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 yep the buses are full for the ROWDIES, we have been advising everyone to car pool down bc tickets down there ARE FREE!!! I know what the website says but we called down there acouple days ago and tickets for mens soccer are free. The ROWDIES buses leave at 4 from the JAR on Wednesday so if we want to make a giant caravan of cars traveling to Cbus that would be awesome. Or if you want to go down and tailgate thats fine too. ha whatever you choose is fine lol Quote

I know what the website says but we called down there acouple days ago and tickets for mens soccer are free. I also confirmed that admission is free. I believe that the website I linked sometime back may be old because I cannot find it from the Buckeyes' main page. I found it through a google search. Quote
GoZips88 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 At least four heading down in our van. Room for two or three more should anyone need a ride. PM me. Leaving Norton/Wadsworth area around 4 as well. FYI - For those of you who won't be traveling to Columbus Wednesday night, Steve French mentioned on the football broadcast Saturday night that he'll be there to call the match on 1350AM. Should be fun! Quote

zip37 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Wow, thanks for that info, I can't bear to listen to the football games, it hurts too much. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Apparently we've lucked into being better than OSU at soccer for the entirety of the existence of our program. And OSu really is supposed to have the better soccer program in the eyes of the recruits, that we've only seen success recently and are somehow taking away from their ability to compete. Please. RootforRoo44 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I dont want to take away from the big rowdies caravan but my group is leaving around 2:45-3pm so we will be tailgating early. Any recommendations on where to tailgate or is anyone else tailgating also? Quote

Any recommendations on where to tailgate or is anyone else tailgating also? I'm heading down on the bus, but if you're tailgating I think there is a fairly large parking lot adjacent to the soccer stadium, to the south ( just northwest of Value City Arena, west of their practice football fields and fieldhouse). OSU fans use it to tailgate for football games, so I think you should be fine there. Quote

MDZip Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Also on the same Buckeyes site was a discussion on Akron soccer. They are actually very complimentary though it is mostly one guy. Quote
Zipsrifle Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 I have to travel to Columbus all the time, but of course, not this week . Oh well, just make up for it with a complete blowout. I mean, make it UGLY! Quote
tpsjugglerdude Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 The Buckeyes are now #15 according to Top Drawer. Quote

Holy cow! Emporer Brutus is a clown! "Akron made the right moves more through luck than anything". And while Louisville has better facilities than Akron, Tosu has better facilities than Louisville! and Good luck getting your respect back, OSWho soccer. He is right about Bluem though. The real "fluke" was them making the NCAA title game three yrs ago. And he thinks Akron soccer was "obscure" before Ken Lolla? I remember beating the Suckeyes every time we played them in the 70s-80s. That was while Ken was a kid. Quote

Just saw on the OSU website that Akron leads the series 24-6-2. Wow, we must be really lucky! Quote
jem101 Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 The Columbus Dispatch did a write up on Akron soccer today. Here's the link. Quote
