Captain Kangaroo Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Was "Full" spelled appropriately? How is "Regarding the positives taken from last Saturday's loss:" the #2 question asked? If Ohio State lost to a 1-3 Michigan team, would the #2 question be: "Regarding the positives taken from last Saturday's loss:" What a fantasy job Ianello has... go out and get your a$$ kicked by a "rival" that ranks somewhere between #112 and #116 nationally... and not have to deal with anything but big fat softballs from the press. No accountability for the loss what-so-ever. Hey Coach - There are no positives to be taken from getting your a$$ waxed by a bad K.e.n.t. team. You will score a lot more points with the public and the fans if you are honest rather than oblivious. Your press conference reminds me of one I watched a few years ago -- Can't wait for "Bagdad Rob's" OU press conference. Quote
skip-zip Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 I started to mention this in another thread, but two things are really starting to bother me about the remarks. 1) The "big plays" statements. A former Akron coach used to bring this up too, and it nauseated me. Big plays are a part of the game. And you could probably point to a number of big plays in ANY game and make the point that if they did not happen, the game could have turned out differently. It doesn't tell me anything. 2) The "We need to get better". The truth is, EVERY team tries to improve during the course of a season. They analyze film, work on plays, etc., continually during the course of a season to try to get better. So, to hear that we need to get better is pretty obvious, and it's part of a coaches job, and again, it doesn't tell me anything. Quote
Dr Z Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 I trimmed the press conference and I am currently uploading it to youtube, should be ready near lunch if someone has not listened to it yet. I'm really glad I didn't go to the game. You guys are more bitter than I am. I agree with skip, big plays are part of the game. One of the problems I had with this weeks play calling was the fact that we did not take shots down the field on play action streaks that we did in Kentucky. It didn't work in Kentucky, but that is no reason to stop. In this offense we need to take big shots down the field. We had some second and five or less near midfield when we should have dialed one of these up. The razzle-dazzle was nice if executed properly. More though. I can remember one big play that the receiver stopped on his route 20 yards down field. That would have been one. "...see you tomorrow"...equals the softball questions. They need to include a guest ZN member so we can give him more pressing questions. Quote
skip-zip Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Based on what I have read, and what I've heard here, when Coach I states that he believes the play in the end zone was indeed a fumble, does anyone else get the impression that he is commenting on the original fumble, and not the subsequent recovery/shovel that occurs later in the play after PN is laying on the ground? Dr Z Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 ...when Coach I states that he believes the play in the end zone was indeed a fumble, does anyone else get the impression that he is commenting on the original fumble...?Yes, seems to me he doesn't want to admit that he/staff made a mistake by not reviewing it. Mitch Browning needs to step up his coaching. Put some extra time in, make a change, simplify something. I'm not sure what it is, but it is unacceptable! If I were playing the Zips I would send an extra guy every time the Zips get to third and a passing down. Quote
