Zip_ME87
Interesting tweet from Steve Zakuani (http://twitter.com/stevezakuani11) "Received some good news for my career! The future is bright! Life gets better! Hope 2 share w/ u all soon, gotta deal w/ some logistics 1st!" - today Z.I.P., or anyone, any idea as to what Steve may be referring? Move overseas? Valpo Zip
I think that he'll be playing for the US team because, with all due respect, he wouldn't get a spot right now on the english squad...and i can't see him picking congo (i think he never played there) over the country where he lives and plays. At the national level, England is not much better than we are, if at all. They just happen to have big name, EPL stars. I expect that Zakuani is being loaned to a big club in Europe during the MLS off-season, which benefits his career tremendously and potentially brings big dollars to the Sounders and MLS. Win-win all around unless he gets injured. Z.I.P. sighting in 3, 2, ...

I don't want to see Zakuani leave the Sounders because I'd like to go to a game in Seattle next year, perhaps vs KC or Chivas, or another MLS team where some of our current players may be. From what I've seen, best atmosphere in MLS (and possibly any major league sport).

The Sounders have sold out every game since since they first started MLS play. You're better off seeing them as the away team although I'm sure the atmosphere in Seattle is amazing. I'm expecting to pay a mark up on Stub Hub. I saw them in Columbus this season (4-0 Sounders), but want to experience Qwest Field.
tpsjugglerdude
I hears he was holding an hour long press conferance "the Better Decision" and it was going to be on espn in primetime with the proceeds going to paying off the refs for Akrons last football game so we could win just one this year. First , that's money well spent. Second, it appears the only way Ianello can win a game. He sure as hell has proven he can't coach 'em to a win. I suspect he could catch on with a Championship (second division) club right now, and it would help his career in the long term. But ZIP_ME87 may put a spanner in the works if it costs him on StubHub. BTW -- the Sounders do keep a couple of thousand seats for individual game sales. The fan club manages to get first dibs -- that's how I got Barca tix last year, by signing up and getting their e-mail.
jem101
Looks like the decision has been made.Zakuani via his twitter, "I've accepted an invite from the Congo nat'l team for a game in Paris next week.. tough decision but long wait for US citizenship nailed it!" he followed that up with "If citizenship could have been fast-tracked, probably would have gone with US but happy with my decision.. can't wait to represent Africa!" I have said in other threads that I would be the first to admit when I was wrong. I was wrong about Steve being loaned to a European club. Great alternative news though. Congrats, Steve. Valpo Zip
That's a bummer. I thought there was a process for expedited citizenship award for national interest...but i can be wrong. Good luck Stevo and Congo, except when you're playing the good guys. Note to Bob Bradley: start filing for Darren Mattock's citizenship today to avoid being in the same situation few years later. Zip_ME87
Congratulations to Steve. I would have loved to see him play for the US, but it's cool that he'll be playing with his brother.

yazan07
Oh my gosh! That's the answer! All we need to do is somehow make it so Steve Zakuani is Barack Obama's aunt and then he can play soccer for the US National Team! What a great proposition, you should see what you can do about making it happen.

It was a joke, and it sounds like you may be an apologist of failed experiments. Weird how similar this is to the "Ianello experiment".
