I can't see it being a big powerhouse like Michigan, OSU, etc. that would be a pipe dream at best to think that someone like that would come to the bowl. I've gotta believe it would be a mid level Big 10 team like Minnesota or Northwestern. Maybe a Big Least team like Louisville or Rutgers? I have a hard time believing it would be a part of the deal w/ Army (if I remember right that was a 2for1) because why would ESPN care about an Army/Akron matchup next year but not this year. Logic though would say it is more than likely one of the top CDOA or MWC teams. Another mid-major, but one with a good following and traditionally good team. Fresno State? Boise State? Utah?

I dunno. Sure is nice to think about though. How big of a crap would you guys take in your pants if we landed OSU in the Rubber Bowl to start off the season?

Long time, no post. Been on the west coast for business with the exception of a trip home for Thanksgiving, caught the Can't win and then flew back a day early to go to the MACC in Detroit.

I have heard Boston College as well. Having an ACC team come to the rubber bowl to open the season would be HUGE. If BC comes I heard no trip to NC State.

I doubt it would be BC= their non-con is already set (UMass, BYU, Can't & Maine). UNLESS Can't is getting out of the game, though Can't was supposed to host BC next year= doubt they would turn that $ over to their rival! My feeling is that it may be Pitt, though I'm not sure Wannstedt wants to deal with another MAC road game.

I'd have to believe at some point BC needs to stop playing 1-AA opponents. Based only on your information above, they have 3 1-AA teams (Maine, Can't and UMass) .. oops .. Can't State is 1-A, I forgot .. or rather one 1-AA team (Maine) and one sesspool of an opponent that has no redeming qualities (UMass ..... I happen to be a UConn grad and can fill you in later). Dropping UMass or Maine would leave them still with the easiest schedule in the ACC I'm sure .. that is until you add the Zips to the slate.

I saw something over on one of the flush boards that says that Can't State is hosting Minnesota to open the season. Perhaps that requires them to drop BC. Who knows .. could be interesting. Might need to make that road trip work.

What is this show? Local access? 45/49?

Never heard of this .... UA related or no?

I used to watch it when I lived in Akron. I havn't watched it in 4 years.

It shows on this station, only site I could find on the web

I believe it is on Mondays around 6. It is NOT university hosted.

Just takes calls on sports. Anybody can call in. It's not real hard to get on, so you can ask

any Akron sports question you want. He will give you a good answer. It is worth your time.

I think it was called sportsbeat?

I totally agree that BC needs to play more quality OOC teams...read any BC board and you will see that same thing. Akron would definitely be an upgrade over Can't State, Maine, etc.

Update on Boston College.

BC has replaced a home game in 2006 against UMASS with a home game against BYU.

Maine is the only remaining I-AA opponent on their schedule. This is a home game.

Observation. If BC is going to play at Akron in 2006 it will almost certainly have to be

a replacement for the C'ant State game. Meanwhile, C'ant State going 1-10 in 2005

has an incentive to soften their schedule. Playing BC is probably not worth the money.

C'ant can't afford to trash their season for a few bucks.

My understanding is they are dumping Can't to play at the rubber bowl.  We therefore dump our trip to NC State.

BC it is.

:macc:

Damit :(

I'm only a half-hour from NCST, and was looking forward to the game!

But, If it works out, a great pick up for UA; and I believe our team will be competetitive w/ BostonC or better next year. :thumb:
