jem101
If you would like to follow the team as they head out to the College Cup, then follow Zippy on twitter. There has already been a few tweets from in the airport and a few pictures posted also. Go Zips!

(think George Costanza's father) You can't keep Zippy outta Isla Vista!
mes102
Zippy can not make it to Santa Barbara...one of my Zippy friends told me that UA said there wasn't enough in the budget for the mascot to go. But they're using Zippy's twitter page...typical UA...if u want to know more about this Z.I.P., let me know...

That's true about Zippy, i posted something about that yesterday on another topic and no one seems to care that our mascot isn't going. I think it's a pretty big deal. Let'sGoZips94
Why doesn't iCan'tCoach use any of his own money to make this stuff happen? He's the reason the UA is losing money by the second.

It might cost an extra $300 just to send the Zippy costume over.

You're right...and the fireworks for football cost about twice that much for every time they did introductions....even when in front of 250 people like the Buffalo game. Glad UA has their priorities straight.
tpsjugglerdude
I hope that if Dr.P goes that he pays his own way. He should pay for zippy to get there out of his own pocket.
scottditzen
WTF...we could have raised some money for Zippy right here on this forum. Good publicity for ZN. If anything, it may have guilted the U into paying. It sucks the world won't be seeing the best mascot in the world on tv this weekend. Z.I.P.
First chant of the day Friday; WE WANT ZIPPY. WHERE'S OUR ZIPPY. WE WANT ZIPPY. WHERE'S THAT ROO? This is really unbelievable. Twenty years ago, the basketball team flew to HAWAII -- 3000 miles further -- and brought six cheerleaders AND Zippy. Well, you may have heard this story before: The girl who dressed as Zippy was outside the room where I was sitting with the SID, when we can all hear her shout to the cheerleading coach -- "I got Zippy's head, where'd you put his tail?" Of course she had, as all realized, left the tail in the closet at JAR so she could spend more time with her "pal" who was the trainer. Call me Wisty -- I'll throw a hundred bucks in the pot for your mascot to be at an NCAA championship tournament. Sheesh!
Valpo Zip
How about hiring some college student in Santa Barbara for $10/hour to be Zippy? that would cost $40 for both games.
jem101
How about hiring some college student in Santa Barbara for $10/hour to be Zippy? that would cost $40 for both games. I'll do it for free. All they need to do is pay my expenses to get out there.
mes102
I guess I'll come out of the closet... ...I have experience with "mascots"... I was the "soccerhead" this year within the rowdies and got a lot of compliments, strange looks, etc. BUT THIS IS UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!! HOW BAD DOES THE UNIVERSITY LOOK WHEN ESPN ASKS WHERE THE MASCOT IS WHEN THE OTHER 3 ARE THERE!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
RootforRoo44
Well Loisville and UNC's mascots are stupid...but Michigan, do they even have one? It really is stupid that they didn't fly Zippy out. My God it's in progressive California, and we have a female mascot. Zippy would fit in great! tbozeglav
In other news relative to the OP... Lots of tweets. Definitely nice to at least see this. Latest set of tweets were regarding the training sessions today for all 4 teams. Apparently they sent all 4 teams to the same local private university for training and scheduled them so all 4 teams were practicing one after another. To quote the "Follow the Roo" twitter, apparently "The situation makes for some anxious coaches" because as "...one team is finishing up with penalty kicks, the next team is nearby, ready to take the field". Interesting they'd do this...
jem101
As much as it sucks Zippy won't be there, I have to admit they are doing a great job with the twitter feed. I love having an inside look at what's going on out there in Cali.
