Zips Win! Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Great! I just realized that THE UA hoops watch party scheduled for 4:30 at the Barley House will be overshadowed by tOSU. I cannot wait to get to see THE medium ten champioship game while getting waited on by a staff decked out in silver and red while we lead up to THE selection show!! Sorry, but this really sucks and we need to find a better venue to celebrate our championship. Surrounded by cheating buckeye fans is not how I envisioned it... Quote
skip-zip Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 That should be hilarious. If there are a bunch of OSWho fans in there, they'll have to try to watch their game in the backdrop of our celebration. That'll turn the tables a bit from what we usually have to endure around here. Quote

Things like this should be held in the Students Center or the JAR. Why build a new Student Center if you aren't going to use it for University events. An off campus bar is not the proper place to have a watch party for the NCAA Tournament. Quote

What time is the actual selection show? I'm probably going to try and get a few friends to go down there and watch. I'm guessing that with the team in attendance, that at least the wait staff will be in blue and gold. They couldn't be that bad, could they? Things were done well for the College Cup. Quote

bigzipguy Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 But I guess the tourney win is in fact AUTOMATIC. Quote
Quickzips Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Anybody think the Zips will be forced into one of the play-in games?? Lunardi currently has us as a 16 seed, but personally I think we could go as high as a 13 or 14. Current 13 seeds according to Lunardi: Princeton, Bucknell, Belmont, Oakland Current 14 seeds according to Lunardi: Long Island, Morehead State, Indiana State, Wofford Current 15 seeds according to Lunardi: St. Peters, UCSB, Northern Colorado, UNC Asheville Current 16 seeds (not play-in games): Boston U, Akron Current Play-in games: Alabama State/Hampton, UALR/Texas San Antonio Quote

It should be an even 64 single elimination tournament. Quote

I don't expect anything different than what happened 2 years ago. Put us at 14, and I'll be satisfied again. Put as at 13 and I'll be very happy. Put us at 15 and I'm dissappointed. I don't even want to think about 16, and since there's a lot of conferences weaker than the MAC, it's not gonna happen. But, the only good thing would be that we could see our team play in Dayton on a night where there are only 4 other games. Quote
bigzipguy Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 I beleive from Joe Lunardi's projections, that all four #1 seeds play a winner from one of the 4 play in games. Quote
Zip_ME87 Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Nope. Two play-ins are for 16 seeds. The other two are for a 13 seed I think. Not quite but thanks for making me look. 2 are for 16 seeds. The other 2 are: The two at-large pairings will both occupy the seed line where they would normally be placed in the bracket. The pairings could occupy different lines in the bracket. For example, one game may be played between two No. 10 seeds, while the other could feature a pair of No. 12 seeds. Winners of those games would advance to play their natural opponent on a 64-team bracket; the No. 10 seed would play a seventh-seeded team and a 12th-seeded team would meet a No. 5 seed. In accordance with the bracketing procedures, teams will continue to be assigned to the closest available geographic location while avoiding regular-season rematches and conference opponents. This marks the first time in tournament history that the last four at-large teams will be publicly revealed. Source Quote
Tracker400 Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 I figured something out that may help: the last of the At-Large teams have to do a "Play In" game. So there are two 12 vs. 12 games and two 16 v 16 games. So Akron would need to be one of the worst 4 to have to do a play in. Frankly, I would rather get a 16 seed and play our first game in Chicago than get a 15 seed and play our first game in Tucson. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 The MAC is the 20th rated conference out of 31. Quote
