Blue & Gold
Wow, how unfortunate that they've got Western Michigan playing Buffalo. That seems very strange.
Let'sGoZips94
Solid win by OU. Marshall has been on the up and up. Very weird to have two MAC teams playing each other. Not sure how that came about.
Zipmeister
Solid win by OU. Marshall has been on the up and up. Very weird to have two MAC teams playing each other. Not sure how that came about. Weird indeed. And also very sinister. It's all part of the nationwide anti-MAC conspiracy designed to prevent one of our brethren from being able to proclaim on March 31 that "We are number 103, we are number 103!!" I don't blame them for not getting excited about playing a conference opponent in a post-season tournament. I wouldn't be that interested. It would feel like just another game even though the post-season is supposed to be anything but that.
Dave in Green
I guess we all have our own definitions of what a true fan is. I never tire of basketball. I could watch it 12 months a year. The Zips are the team I've adopted as my favorite college team. I'd never dream of missing a home game, even against a DII or DIII team, and especially not a post-season game, no matter who the opponent. As far as I'm concerned, the people who don't show up for their team's home games do not fit the definition of "fans." They are simply casual attendees who show up or don't show up depending on other entertainment options they may have for that day.

Everything about the CBI and the CIT is small time. It is a tournament funded almost entirely by the individual schools that "participate." There is no media coverage for these "tournaments", they don't have any history behind them. Heck, 99% of college basketball fans probably can't even tell you the format of these "events" or how the "champion" is determined without having to go look it up. If anyone on here can name last years "champion" for these events off the top of their head I would be floored. If you want to question people's fanhood for not showing up to these games that is your decision. Personally, I can't fault anyone for not wanting to attend these games. Just because all of us aren't season ticket holders who attend every home game and travel to roadies whenever we can doesn't mean we aren't fans. Many of us simply don't have the money to do that. I know for myself and many others, we would rather save our money, not attend these joke "tournaments" and put that cash into going to another game or two next season. I suppose that we can place you in the "attendee" category. College coaches love these small tournaments for several reasons. Not the least of which is the opportunity to keep practicing and playing. On the plus side as well, is getting a chance or two to play schools you normally can not get on your schedule. I'm with Dave, I'll be there. Dave in Green
People skipping their team's basketball games because they honestly can't afford to attend is a heck of a lot different from not going because you think the opponent isn't strong enough or the tournament prestigious enough. An adult general admission ticket to the Zips CBI game last season cost $10. Any Zips fan who honestly couldn't afford that had a legitimate reason for staying home. Economic issues aside, skipping a game because the opponent isn't strong enough or the tournament prestigious enough is a clear choice of personal priorities. More dedicated fans are more likely to attend more games, and less likely to make excuses that some of their team's games are not worthy of their presence. GJGood
I believe the title of this topic should be CIT update and not CBI update. Miami was the only MAC squad in the CBI and lost in the first round at Rhode Island. No mention yet of our arch rivals being 40 minutes away from Madison Square Garden in the NIT? Who is pulling for them and who is a big fan of the Colorado Buffaloes at present?
Zip_ME87
I'm with you DiG, RootforRoo, and GoZips. I'll attend any home game for Zips Mens Basketball, even the CBI and CIT.

Most likely they wont butt heads until the championship round. Ohio and Buffalo are good conference reps. Post season has been good to the MAC.
