Lee Adams Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Looks pretty realistic. Bad thing is it is obvious that other folks are not convinced about RI's ability to be a good x's and o's guy at this point. Be prepared for another year or two of losing more than winning. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Pre-Snap Read certainly does their homework. Other than giving Ianello credit for D'Orazio, I can't find much fault in the column. It's probably the most accurate independent overview of the Zips that I've ever read. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted May 5, 2011 Author Report Posted May 5, 2011 I like that blog more and more. Yesterday they came out with an article on Blueshirting. What's blueshirting, you ask? It's a way to allow players to greyshirt without sitting out a year. It's a loophole in the 25 scholarship recruiting rule. It's something Ianello should take full advantage of before the loophole gets closed. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted May 9, 2011 Author Report Posted May 9, 2011 Another pre-season review, this time by Lost Lettermen. Not as in-depth, but their 'former player' database is interesting to search through, even if it only covers the BCS schools. Quote

Not as in-depth, but their 'former player' database is interesting to search through, even if it only covers the BCS schools. But let’s be honest about why Ianello got the job in the first place: His recruiting prowess. The same guy that got OT Joe Thomas to come to Madison and helped lure WR Michael Floyd to South Bend may have another stud in RB Jawson Chisholm. Can't say I disagree with this sentiment (excusing the 1st name typo). Quote

GoZips Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 This glowing report makes me want the University to fire Ianello ASAP. Quote
Zipgrad01 Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 This glowing report makes me want the University to fire Ianello ASAP. These people are clueless. When does any pre season MAC prediction come true? Who had Miami winning the conference last year? We just need to wait until the season gets underway because none of us have any clue whether this team will be better. After watching the spring game I say yes, but nobody knows. Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 "Please let JZ84 be right about Jawon Chisholm" I'm right there with the pooch and the tyke! BUT, just thought I'd give you a little preview of what to expect. I know, I know. It was against the Zip Defense, bla bla bla. We'll just have to wait and see how much difference that makes. Go Zips!!! ps. Looks like this was from last season while he was red-shirting since Dylan Potts appears to be handing off. I'm thinking the staff has known all along what that had with Jawon. But since he came in late, and Bowers (another FR RB) had already been committed to play, they perhaps figured it wasn't worth burning his RS last year. I'd say that was a smart move. Quote
Hilltopper Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 He had the best game of all the players this spring. His brother was sitting in front of me and they are very excited about him playing next season. Quote
Doug Snyder Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 He had the best game of all the players this spring. His brother was sitting in front of me and they are very excited about him playing next season. The thing that really impressed me in that game was how close he ran behind his lead blocker and the explosive move past at the opportune moment. I believe he will be successful. And…Alexander will be effective too….but with another running style. The running game will be greatly improved IMO Quote
ZachTheZip Posted May 28, 2011 Author Report Posted May 28, 2011 The Orlando Sentinel puts us at #116 Quote
ZachTheZip Posted May 31, 2011 Author Report Posted May 31, 2011 Here's a non-traditional preview of the 2011 Zips season. A complete statistical breakdown of Zips football. Aside from assuming we still play in the Rubber Bowl which shouldn't affect any stats they look at, they seem to know what they're talking about mathematically. Quote
