K92
As my grandpa would have said, "That's enough to gag a maggot off a gut wagon."
akzipper
they don't deserve to be in our city!
zip37
HEY AEROS-- YOU'LL NEVER GET ANOTHER CENT FROM ME, HIT THOSE TWO FOR CASH I WOULD HAVE SPENT IN THE FUTURE!
bobbyake
they don't deserve to be in our city! Can't is included in Akron Metro, whether we like it or not. Why Medina belongs to Cleveland and not Akron is mind boggling.
K92
Do you think the Mud Hens will have Dave Clawson throw out the first pitch? Maybe Brady Hoke can do the same at a Clippers game. Ridiculous.
skip-zip
Regardless of how close Can't is located, you don't attempt to attract more fans by bringing in the people from the heated rival of the local school that's right around the block. I think you alienate more people in the long run. BRILLIANT !!
Hilltopper
Sounds like a great marketing idea to me. Too bad we didn't think of it first. But I guess you might have to make some kind of a marketing dept for that to happen!

There has been no marketing at Akron since Joe Dunn stepped down as Sports Information Director, what, twenty years ago?

There has been no marketing at Akron since Joe Dunn stepped down as Sports Information Director, what, twenty years ago? Mike Thomas era saw a ton of Marketing progress. The AK-Rowdies were formed...new logos (H-U-G-E improvement to the school's image, apparel sales, etc)...numerous promotions (some bad, some good, but promotional efforts none-the-less). Mike Thomas & Co. would never have stayed in Akron longer than they did (3.5 years?)...but if they could have stayed another 3.5, Zips fans wouldn't be dreaming of taking "The Next Step," we'd be living "The Next Step." No arguement from me on that CK. But since MT left, there has been nothing. In a related note; we are starting our vacation today in Myrtle Beach. My daughter is taking the ACT today on the campus of Coastal Carolina University. When she left this morning, she was decked out in all her Zips gear, so I told not to be surprised if some guy named Hunter saw her he might want to call her out for wearing her Fear the Roo shirt! Spin
Maybe the Aeros wanted to have Akron's football coach there, but we didn't have one. Seriously, couldn't they do this in Niles? At least they have a campus in the area.
