I was hoping we all might resist the temptation to post a wise crack here. If one assumes Coach_KB is asking a legitimate question for a potential recruit he has some connection to (and I take all newbies seriously unless given a good reason to do otherwise), what kind of attitude is that from a supposed Zips fan? Why not save the negativity for another thread? It's not like there aren't enough of them from which to choose.

A player coming to Akron needs to understand two things:1. Winning at Akron hasn't been easy.2. Turning this program into a winner will be difficult but it can be done quickly.If a kid can come to Akron with his eyes wide open about the challenges and is willing to accept those challenges, we have a good starting point. The kid who primarily wants the new stadium, the new workout facility, etc. is not what we need. Players coming to Akron right now have a chance at making a historic impact on a college football program in two years if they can do what it takes once they get here to make it a winner. I think that is a darn good reason for a kid to come to Akron.I would hope that when our coaches recruit, they would be this honest. The kind of player we would want would accept a great challenge like this. A mac program can have a two year turn around. Finding the right kids willing to accept the chanllenge is the key. Let's stop building and start winning.

LOL, no... not gonna run back to him. I'm a big Mizzou guy and our fans have our share of the same (we also worry about recruits reading the board). This would be a pretty big get for you guys. There are some administration/transcript deals to work out. Has till August 1st to decide/figure out if it will work.

Yes, I am certain you are correct. The whole scenario started out so believably. A high school coach wants to know what kind of offense a team runs so instead of contacting the appropriate coaching staff, the high school coach posts the question on a fan message board. Then reading that one poster on the message board had a negative comment about the college team, the coach rushes back to the recruit and warns him away from the college. This all makes perfect sense. I hope the coach didn't get injured by any crap falling from the flying pigs in this story.

Sorry for the delay Coach_KB, but welcome to the board It's perfectly understandable to me that, whether you're a coach, parent, relative or friend of this prospective recruit, you might want to try to gain some "unofficial" information regarding the offense currently being run by the Zips. What the coaches say is one thing. What the fans see and say is another. As has been mentioned before, HC Ianello and OC Latina run a pro style offense that is patterned after the offense Charlie Weis ran while he was at Notre Dame. The offense currently installed at Wisconsin also provides a good comparison.It's common knowledge, of course, that the Zips struggled considerably last season in their 1st year in the offense (Akron ran the spread under JD Brookhart from 2004 to 2009). The team did begin to move the ball more consistently in the latter half of the season, however. Some of the things that stood out to me are as follows:1) The fullback and the tight end are integral to the UA offense. Each position will recieve "looks" in the passing game.2) The power running game will remain a focus.3) The Zips like to try to stretch the field with their wideouts.4) Up to this point, we haven't seen much in the way of trickery or taking unusual risks from this coaching staff.5) It is imperative that the Zips offensive line QB and WRs execute much better in 2011 for the team's record to improve. This offense requires the QB to complete 60-65% of his passes in order to succeed. There are some promising new players for 2011 who will hopefully begin to turn that around. Everyone will need to play their part.Thanks for stopping by!

LOL..Yeah, ban me because I made a joke. I made a 3 word post and then the mob decided to attack and carry it on for multiple posts.. What do you think looks worse to a potential recruit, the 3 word post joke, or the ridiculous attack that followed?On other board jokes like that are made constantly and are usually added to. I wasn't the one that posted on the thread last year about how I won't go to any games and support the team like so many posters here did. I live in Georgia and I always plan my trips home around the Akron homes schedule so I can go to at least 2 games a year. Yet I am attacked non stop here. Any recruit should want to come here. Young rebuilding team with great facilities. As the soccer team proves, if we have a winner, support will be there. We are in a hotbead for recruiting. The future is bright here. Stop being so damn defensive and have some fun with it.I'm done here now. Let the attacks over a joke continue.

We run a balanced, conservative pro-style offense with slightly more emphasis on the run than the pass.I hope this kid likes a challenge. At Akron, he'll have to work to gain success.

Thanks, but it looks like he's gonna head to NorthEast Oklahoma A&M JuCo. Too many administrative hurdles to jump. I have a feeling he'll be pretty highly recruited out of JuCo next year, but he's got a great relationship with Cosgrove, so you never know.
