Blue & Gold
Richard Hall left the program for personal reasons Now we have an answer. You always wonder how a "West Virginia HS Defensive POTY" ends up with the Zips. Now you know...he has "baggage." Add him to the long list of too-good-too-be-true Zip recruits. Marcus Sanders...EJ Lilley...Nate Robinson...David Harvey...Derrick Tarver... My favorite name for the list of "never-played-a-game" superstars in blue and gold: Mike Tracy. Halfback from Eastern PA, circa 1981-82. Runner who broke Tony Dorsett's HS rushing records (may have been at Upper Darby HS, too). Akron was in play because the kid was listed as 5-4. Couple weeks before school, word come down, he joined the Army. Now, let me tell ya bout Derrick Tarver... He played, excelled, but played for the wrong coach at the wrong time! +1. I liked Derrick Tarver. I didn't care for Hipsher much.

It was Marian, Pennsylvania 1980, according to this "History of the Big-33 Game" article. Would have put him in 1981 freshman class, if he had arrived. K92
Coach needs to open his eyes. What a great opportunity to learn about the program. What a great opportunity WASTED! "We're in helmets, we're going to wear shoulder pads, split squad, maximize..." Save it. B-O-R-I-N-G...Can somebody do there job and get this guy to tell the fans something that gets them excited about the season. Can we hire Emory? He knows how to fire up fans, you know why, because he is fired up. Rob needs to learn how KD excites the fan when someone puts the camera on him. I love listening to KD, I hate listening to Rob. At the minimum, he did say Go Zips?!? It's more of the blah blah blah coachspeak bullshit. If you are going to make the effort to make a statement, make a statement. Just babbling some useless non-information serves no purpose at all. Rob...I want to like you. I want to buy in, but you are making it hard. Throw me a bone, RI! All I want to see out of this team is some winning. I don't care who does it, which QB does it, which coach does it, etc. I don't even care what their names are, what year they are in or where they come from at this point. Want to get me excited? Dr Z
Go Zips UNCHECK?! I think he is showing his creative side of his personality by wishing you a good day instead. Ya know, don't want to say the same thing over and over, that would be boring. Here is the most important info to come out of the article: ...training camp on Aug. 20 with an open to the public practice from noon-2 p.m. ET at InfoCision Stadium Of course, just like the spring game, I'll be out of town. I'll trust the good posters at ZN to inform me.

How many days until Temple? Great set up!!! Between now and then, work on that chair. It looks as comfortable as sitting in GA at a basketball game. It's almost as if he's throwing you a few bones on Day 5, good Doctor! Chisholm and Rossi (great to hear he's practicing) combine for a nice blitz pick up. And the front seven, not surprisingly, is playing well. You have to admit, the guy looks pretty confident and relaxed right now.
Blue & Gold
You have to admit, the guy looks pretty confident and relaxed right now. +1. Encouraging to see. Also, good to hear a couple of names tossed out. I remember Lee Owens getting me excited to see Andre McRae (sp?) before the season started. Andre rarely disappointed. Dr Z
Gaffney's Day 5 recap. The Zips’ practice Aug. 20 is free and open to the public. It will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at InfoCision Stadium and is a regular practice, not a scrimmage. Afterward, players will be available for autographs and photographs. In addition, various attractions will be held inside and outside the stadium, including inflatables and face-painting. Again, I'm out of town on the 20th, can a ZN member give me some notes from this?

ZachTheZip
ESPN article on how a coach must succed by his second year. If the turnaround doesn't happen NOW, we simply can't afford to keep Ianello beyond his third year.

A good coach wouldn't struggle in his first two years because he would find a way to maximize success with the players that he has on the current roster. A coach that relies on having a very specific type of player (one that never seems to be on the roster he inherits) in order to be successful isn't a good coach, he's just an administrator of a system. We hired the second kind of coach. Next time let's hire someone who is comfortable devising schemes that fit the players he has to work with at least until he can recruit players who fit his style better, and we won't have to sit through years of learning on the job like we are doing now.
