If the turnaround doesn't happen NOW, we simply can't afford to keep Ianello beyond his third year.
It would be so much fun to hire another coach and start all over again after two years, so that coach can bring in his new players and new system and struggle through his first two years.

A good coach wouldn't struggle in his first two years because he would find a way to maximize success with the players that he has on the current roster. A coach that relies on having a very specific type of player (one that never seems to be on the roster he inherits) in order to be successful isn't a good coach, he's just an administrator of a system. We hired the second kind of coach. Next time let's hire someone who is comfortable devising schemes that fit the players he has to work with at least until he can recruit players who fit his style better, and we won't have to sit through years of learning on the job like we are doing now.

Slight difference of opinion on the coaching staff. Coaching ranking at bottom. Rivals preview

Ianello calls out the team for a lack of focus, and praises a Defensive walk-on.

Good segment. I appreciate how candid RI is concerning tonight's lack of discipline/focus. That does give me a little cause for concern; we had waaaaay too many penalties last season. But it's still early.

I'd really like to know/hear how the Lone Ranger is faring.

Tom Gaffney adds a nice story about the improved conditioning of C Adam Bice.

I like the emphasis on playing at the right weight. Hopefully S&C coach Sowers has had a similarly positive effect on others.

I like this quote: "With training camp now headed into its third week, the offensive line under coach Mitch Browning has a chance to be a team strength."

I like they have Coach I giving these interviews. Maybe doing some interviews with the team capts. would add some flavor to these videos. The same guy doing the video each day makes it a little tedious.

I would like to hear some different perspectives as well. What we need are open practices so we could get fan reports like we have been getting from the basketball side.

They let me in last night to catch the scrimmage. I just had to talk to some guy at the gate. I'm pretty sure he was just making sure no one was there to scout for another team...

They guys were pretty pumped up and chanting and yelling. The friendly rivalry between offense and defense was pretty impressive although the offense did what it wanted on many occasions. The defense needs to get better real quick if they hope to win some games.

The offence was in a 4th down situation and the coaches signaled to kick a field goal but both the offense and defense wanted to go for it. on 4th and 2. #2 had a nice 4-6 yard run for the first down but one of the lineman had to be gatored off the field. It was pretty anti climatic and to think "If they only had gone with a field goal"

I agree, I learned a little watching the segment after the scrimmage. I understand why we are not hearing about the QB battle, but I would love an update too.

In the segment before the scrimmage, iCoach invites the former players to come by and watch practice. Any chance ZipsNation memebers can get an invite iCoach? One of us would love to come to practice and do a little write up to get the fan base excited. I think it's working in the basketball forum.
