Season Predictions

Well, the day we were hoping wouldn't happen is here. It was the prudent decision to wait to make win predictions until after the Temple game. That day is here. Please make an honest prediction without ugly commentary.I think our base athletic and football ability is lacking in almost every area that matters. The players we need to perform well, aren't. I'm debating between 2 and 3 wins for the season. I'll go with 2.

Based on what I witnessed last night, the Zips as a team appear to be roughly where they were in the last three games of last season. That is, right now they may be capable of playing close with other lower-tier MAC teams, which means statistically that they would probably win some and lose some of those games. If they don't improve significantly over last night's performance, three wins would be about the most we could hope for. I do expect to see some improvement, especially from some of the younger, newer players. But it would take significant improvement across the board for me to even entertain the thought of four wins.Right now I don't see much hope for a dramatic tournaround this season. There's only the remotest chance that the coaches and players will hit on something that gives them a meaningful breakthrough.I'd feel pretty good if the Zips finished the season out of the Bottom 10, even if only 11th.

I hate to be pesimistic but I really dont think we have a win this season. Toledo was just as strong as OSU and Temple could have easily made the score look worse. We are not competitive with the MAC this year. I am hoping we can pull one out against VMI, but that is the only one I see. I don't see us staying within 20 points of most of the MAC right now. There are several teams that are easily 40 points ahead of us(Temple, Toledo, NIU, Miami).

It's the MAC, so I'll go with three: VMI, EMU, and Buffalo. Though it would be an improvement in wins, I don't think this represents major progress for the program...only how bad some of our opponents are.
That's my guess. Because it's the MAC, there will be some close games that are winnable. But, even if we win more than one, I can't say if I would automatically think that we are an improved team over last year.

Unfortunately, Buffalo and Eastern are on the road and the away losing streak will probably continue. I think the Zips go 2-10. Wins against VMI and Can't.
We will beat VMI and win either EMU or Buffalo, so I will say 2.
We are taking back the Wagon Wheel.
