Big Zip
I say I'm not going to renew year in and year out, but then I do. This year I'm going to stay strong. I am going to return my tickets with a letter explaining why. I don't expect Tom to care, but I can always hope. I'm not longer going to contribute to the problem that is UA football until they agree to do something about the problem. i was so excited for a new stadium just a few years ago and now I'm ready to pack it in because the coach made a bad hire in Tom Wistricill who in turn made the worst hire I've ever seen in iCoach. He is far and away the worst coach I have ever seen and I'm including when I played bantam football in the 70s.
Dave in Green
So you guys are saying that my defense is better than the Zips' defense?
johnnyzip84
I'm not saying I'm definitely there (wanting to decline season tix) yet, but I'm certainly willing to listen.Who would have thought fans like us would even entertain the thought of walking away? How could anyone sit through another season of Ole Miss' high, low or batted-down balls, Ianello's mathmatically-challenged deficit-cutting strategies, tumbleweeds in the tailgate lot, swiss cheese defensive line play...That's indicative of how hopeless the current situation appears. Here's (click on MAC) a little more cause for doom and gloom. If I renew, it will only be because I have gotten to know a lot of great people before and during these games, some of whom have no choice but to attend. GP1
Who would have thought fans like us would even entertain the thought of walking away? How could anyone sit through another season of Ole Miss' high, low or batted-down balls, Ianello's mathmatically-challenged deficit-cutting strategies, tumbleweeds in the tailgate lot, swiss cheese defensive line play...I look at this excellent post and I think about the rest of the MAC and how it could be. We are terrible in every way, but there are teams out there like Toledo, NIU and OU who have packed stadiums for prime time games...on Tuesday for crying out loud. Those fans pay to see exciting football played by players who are playing at a high level for the MAC and with some of their players who could play at BCS level schools. Even when they have an off season, those fans know it will only be a season or two before they are good again. We can't do anything and God bless our players for trying, but they just don't have anything going for them...mostly. This program is in bad, bad, bad shape. Dave in Green
Absolutely, the highlight of this football season for me has been the good folks I've met at the tailgates. I'm not going to make my final decision on season tickets until this season has ended and the new recruits have a chance to show what they've got in practice next year. But even if I decide not to buy season tickets, I would still want to go visit with the tailgaters.
UAZipster0305
Last time I checked, tailgating doesn't require game tickets. I'd recommend that no one renew their season tickets because doing so only contributes to the problem. Instead, I recommend tailgating and socializing and listening to Frenchy on the radio in the parking lot before packing it up at the end of the first quarter when most games are over anyhow.I said at the end of last season that anyone renewing is only contributing to the problem. I knew after a couple games last season that iCoach was a terrible hire. Check the archives. In this case, I hate to be able to say I told you so. Zipmeister
I admit that I may be mistaken, but in reading the posts in this thread I'm beginning to sense that some of you are starting to become disheartened with the Akron football program. All I can say is hang in there. Things are about to turn around. We have one of the best recruiters in the business working his tail off as our head coach. The four and five star recruits are about to start flocking in.

We can all commiserate, tune in a game on local tv and look forward to knowing that we don't have to pack-up and watch a beat down in Infocision. It's one Saturday in November the Zips will not lose. zips4ever2008
Is this season done yet? I still can't believe the Zips were actually on national television. Let alone on t.v. at all. There aren't other football teams playing? I think one of those viewer descretion messages should be posted before the game.Warning: Due to the horrible, immature nature of this football team, viewer descretion is advised. What you're about to see may cause you to yell, scream, curse, throw objects, drink more beer then normal, change the channel, leave the room, and may be harmful to your health. Use caution. skip-zip
I think I would consider the idea of tailgating, and staying in the parking lot for the game. It's the only part of the experience that's fun anymore. But I think for some of us, we're missing something in that scenario. If we don't buy our tickets, and don't make our donations, we don't get our preferred parking spots.
MDZip
When CK and JZ84 are seriously considering not renewing, that is a very dark day for Zips football.
