Doug Snyder
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/polls?poll=1 Cleveland State got 43!! We need to kick their arse. I hope they keep winning.
Captain Kangaroo
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/polls?poll=1 Zips get a real vote in the regular season? First time ever?!
Dave in Green
That 1 vote ties the Zips with West Virginia, Minnesota and Marshall for 47th in the country. Wonder if it was an Ohio voter or a Mississippi voter? Still way, way premature. But fun to speculate what would happen if the Zips could put together an early season win streak. Valpo Zip
The next 2 games in the 2k classic tournament are going to be huge. Both Valpo and Duquesne are decent competition but the zips should show that they can consistently win and end the week at 4-0. Maybe we'll have 4 votes next Monday. So did you make your travel plans for this week end?

We learned a couple yrs ago that an OU grad working the electronic media in Boise likes to place a vote for a MAC team, whenever he fells it's worthy. Not sure if he's still on the vote list, but at least we get token #s!
akronzips71
We used to get a vote here and there back in the Romeo days.
Dave in Green
Got our man. Mark Berman of The Roanoke (Va.) Times voted the Zips 25th, just behind Cleveland State in 24th. You can read his logic here: My AP Top 25 ballot By the way, I give Elton credit for not being a homer. Many voters went for Cleveland State as their 24th or 25th choice based on their big upset of Vanderbilt. It would be undertandable for Elton to do the same. But he played it straight and went with the consensus top 25 teams.
Let'sGoZips94
If the Zips can come out of these next 4 games 4-1 or 5-0, look for us to either be ranked, or at the very least, have a very close amount of votes to the top. This team could turn some heads.

So before you get all psyched up, just to be disappointed, just keep in mind. We have never beaten a ranked team. Small steps. Lets win the next two games and get three votes next week! This team could turn some heads. Nope. Any loss early would absolutely kill our chances at a ranking. If there's a loss in the first 5 games, I'd think we'd need to get to around our 10th or 12th game before we could erase that loss and climb again. But I'm wondering....if we have 1 vote, and WVU has 1 vote, can we expect an even matchup later this month? I doubt if Vegas would see it that way.
