Hire Paul Winters

Second, if we lose by 50 on Saturday, then the whole staff related to football needs to be fired. Because we play Western Michigan on Friday.:wave:

Black Friday game? How appropriate. Football season ended for me a couple weeks ago. I can't even listen to the games on the radio. Unfortunately I can't avoid the embarrassing scroll running across the lower TV screen.

Sucks that the nation will see "WMU 58 Akron 13" scrolling across their TV's both Friday AND Saturday.

You do realize Black Friday is named for the day many businesses turn POSITIVE??

I can tell you from my own conversations with Football alumni, as well as the postings on the private Football Alum facebook group, Paul seems to be the near unanimous choice of those who played. I guess that could somewhat be expected given that Coach Winters is a football alum and he has strong connections to both players in the late 70's/early 80's who he played with, and players in the 90's/early 00's who he coached, but alumni support can go a long way at most schools (not so much at this one in the past, but maybe that will change).

Paul's Wayne St "Road" Warriors continue their strong run in the D-2 playoffs with a 38-26 win at #4 Nebraska-Kearney.

That folks, is impressive!

Lee, I think you were the last holdout on the ZNO board declaring that Ianello would most certainly be retained, that UA would never eat 3 years of contract. It just doesn't pay to make definite statements of situations that are beyond your control. I applaud Dr. Proenza for doing what needed to be done, despite the massive hand-wringing of some message board posters who were absolutely obsessed with contract-details that were a non-factor in this decision.

You think UA didn't do a thorough economic analysis of the cost of the buyout vs. the cost of continuing to lose games and paying fans? Okey-dokey.

Listen, the cost of an Ianello buyout has been a popular subject of discussion on ZN.o for months.

A month ago, when many on ZN.o were saying UA would never eat a significant portion of Ianello's contract, I posted a dissenting opinion here.

A few days ago a link to the contract was posted, and when some were still saying it was too rich to eat, I simply pointed out that it would not be as costly as some were thinking.

It was a typical forum discussion that some found interesting and others didn't.

There's no reason for anyone to obsess over it, pro or con.
