And then the Canadians hit a deep three with a defender in his face with a ton of time left on the shot clock. Of course he couldn't have missed that one.

We lost the game on that play and the ensuing offensive possession.

We may have a lot of heart but we really lack any intensity under the hoop on either side of the floor.

Zeke is a little soft & Nic can't jump. Tree has to be the man down low, but he had a terrible game tonight. Maybe trying too hard against McCrae?

Oh well, the MAC East is far too good this year to expect to stay undefeated for long. At least we didn't completely fall apart like K.E.N.T. in the 2nd half against OU. Time to get ready for Saturday.

I'm talking about more than the big men.

We don't rebound well, we don't go up strong when we get the ball near the hoop on offense, we don't use our bodies on defense, etc.

We play soft and we play small for long stretches. That's gotta stop.

I wonder how much they really wanted the win? They have all the talent, but it is a team sport.

Defense which is really good was flat.

OU did a job on Can't soften them up for us on Sat.

OU really looked good. Watched it on STO while watching the Zips on the computer. I think I need a life.

I'm starting to have too many chats again with fellow fans about Abreu playing so wrecklessly. He was doing it again tonight, and then I forgave him when he made a few good decisions with the ball in the 2nd half.

But........then I just EXPLODED when he made that bonehead play on the inbound pass leaving the ball on the floor near the end of the game. Just a complete lack of focus. I guess KD got all over him.

As far as the game goes, forget about the 3 pointers. Their interior play opened all of that up. They dominated us in the paint, especially with their ability to make the extra pass.

It's the MAC. Everyone beats everyone else.

Buffalo earlier this season beat Dayton in Dayton by 29 points. Dayton is currently ranked #27 in RPI. Buffalo can blow out good teams on a good night. So can OU. So can Can't. So can the Zips.

None of them can do it every night.

One MAC team will get hot at the Q and earn an NCAA tournament berth. Let's hope it's the Zips.

What happened to my buddy GoZips?

GoZips doesn't read ZN.o any more since he was suspended from posting for a month, and says he will probably not return to this forum. If you have any message you'd like to get to him, PM it to me as I speak with him occasionally and will be happy to pass it on.

By the way, in all my conversations with GoZips about Zips basketball, he always has only the best to say about Q. GoZips was the first one to say that Q would be the perfect 6th man on the team because he's the only player on the Zips roster who can legitimately play three different positions, and he provides a huge spark off the bench.

Whenever I speak with GoZips, he likes to remind me about how well the Zips have been doing since Q became the 6th man and averages the second most minutes per game of any Zips player while playing at multiple positions. :)

UB student section did the I believe chant on the Zips. Rowdies should not forget this!

Point of clarification: Buffalo was doing that chant before Akron. It's why I always call this game "The Battle of 'I Believe.'"

It sounded like Buffalo had quite a student section! However, i was never able to see them online. Sure could hear them, though! Props to Buffalo.

I have to agree with you. Abreu is not playing like he did last year. KD needs to find his starting 6 or 7 and let them play. This in and out does not help in making a cohensive team.

I truly believe it takes the responsiblity away from each player because they think someone else will pick up the pace.

This would be my starting 5 Zeke, Harney, Q, Nick and Walsh, then Abreu, Bret then Tree.

But then I am just a Monday morning QB. :D

Harney had one of his lesser games against Buffalo. He managed to hoist up 12 field goal attempts in 16 minutes and only hit 4, and was 0-3 from 3-point land. He also had 4 turnovers and racked up 3 fouls in 16 minutes. Not sure that playing Harney more minutes last night would have helped that much.

Several Zips had good games and several Zips had not-so-good games. But that's the way it usually is with individual players. Bottom line is they didn't get it done as a team.

Harney - 16 minutes. Zips lose.
I like the UB announcers commentary... "Keith Dambrot sure likes to use a loooooooot of people off that bench"

Your prediction stands as accurate, CK. However, as DiG points out, it was a subpar night for Harney, and I don't think playing him another 4+ minutes would have given us the win. This should be a multi-variate analysis.

Who said anything about playing Harney more? I only inferred: Our chance of winning games against quality opponents is directly proportional to Harney's minutes. 20 is the number. math.gif

If Harney takes himself out of the game due to poor shooting or foul trouble, it is no different than KD taking him out.

Minutes are minutes. If Harney gets 20, we win. Against Miami or BG, the number drops. Against K.e.n.t., at home, magic number is 17+.
