Not a good sign when not even one of the directional Michigan schools was interested in a Michigan kid. get MORE LINEMEN.

Not sure what the situation is with him. I'll see what I can dig up.

akzipper
Yeah, it's tough to judge some of these signings. First, if they are mostly Ianello recruits then chances are they probably aren't very good. Second, most have no other FBS offers and many don't list any other offers at all. If some are found by Bowden I would be a bit more optimistic, but really I doubt Ianello could find the "diamond in the rough" players and especially not the dozens we've seen signed. I'm told that the new staff is very impressed with the way he runs. They are scratching their heads a bit about why he doesn't have more offers - but from everything they've learned about him, they're very happy to not have to fight over him. One thing you don't have to worry about with this very experienced staff - is them not doing their homework, and not being able to recognize talent and certain intangibles that are invaluable to being a great football player. If Coach Bowden wants a player, I want him to be a Zip. Period.
Jalapeño Zippy
I'm intrigued. I love how he catches the ball away from his body. He has nice vision when he runs and on defense he gets of blocks good and makes strong tackles.

While its nice to see the Zips beat other schools for a recruit, many folks believe that MAC coaches need to find the diamond in the rough that other schools may have overlooked. Maybe this is one of those.

GP1
You are correct about getting guys that other schools overlooked, but we should be able to get guys that other MAC schools wanted. To me, it isn't about finding guys other schools overlooked. That's partly it. Solich has done well using his connections to find kids who BCS schools are taking a pass on. For example, how does a kid like Tettleton get to Athens, OH? Solich called a couple of contacts he has at Univ. of Oklahoma and asked them, "Who don't you want and why?" He was told by the staff that he was very good, but they noticed he had a knee brace on at one time while watching film and were worried about injuries so they took a pass on him. A guy getting passed over can happen that easily. The trick is to be there when he falls through the cracks. My guess is TB is doing some of the same things.
