Here is a list of players who were signed last year but who are not on the GoZips.com roster.

DL William Houst

DE Arlington McClinton

OL Curtis Black

LB Darryl Waters

DE Jason Stargel

WR Josh Smith

S Ben Cunningham

OL Kevin Mills

Does anyone have any info on these guys?

Bump.

George Thomas? Michael Beaven? ABJ? Anyone?

I really like that the staff is going after local kids. I would think if the ship gets turned and area players start playing a hand in that improvement, good things are bound to happen. I also remember the saying about ifs & buts...but it is rather reassuring that Coach Bowden is following through on the plan he laid out from day one. It still all boils down to winning, but I like the strategy and hopefully some of these local boys will make an impact like Cody Grice has.

@Blue & Gold

It would definitely ease a few of my worries about this year's small recruiting class if we could learn the status of some of last year's non-qualifiers. Thanks for continuing to ask the question.

Zach, do you have any additional confirmation on Hamilton beyond his ESPN profile? It looks to me as if they (ESPN) had him listed as a Zip based on his initial verbal (which he took back) and they never bothered to update after he de-commited.

TheDZone (thedzone.net), who covered Hamilton's commitment and decommitment the first time around, put him back as an Akron commit in December.

247sports.com is reporting that JUCO DT Keontae Hollis has given a soft verbal to Akron. Looks like he has a visit to South Alabama upcoming, but is currently leaning towards Akron.

Rivals.com has Keontae listed as a 3-star DT. He's given us a verbal, but is still, apparently, taking a visit to South Alabama today (1/25). Let's hope he doesn't enjoy himself too much down there.

Go Zips!

I will have Scott wish bad things on South Alabama. If his hex won't work, nothing will.

That should do it for LB's for this class with Jerome & Deon'tae giving verbals.

Zipmeister should be proud with these two very nice-sized (& fast) LB's.

According to Michael Beaven of the ABJ:

Jerome Lane 6'5" 210.

Deon'tae Moore 6'4 216

Add 25 to 30 pounds on each and you have legitimate D1 LB size.

Or we could cut both of them in half and have four Akron-sized corners.
