Coach Waters snubs the media (fans) after a tough loss

You know, if you're going to whine and bitch because your program doesn't get any pub, and the Cleveland media outlets talk about the MAC schools, and you spend the first half of the season punking your program on a local radio station, you might want to man up and not cancel an interview after a loss.

I know many of you have a low opinion of Cleveland sports radio, but it was good enough for Waters to go on when times were good, and he wanted to pump the city up to show up for games. It was good enough when they spent a large part of the day working on getting asses into the seats at the Wolstein.

To cancel a morning interview last night at 10:00 is classless. You wouldn't see that from Dambrot or Senderoff.

A: You can't really say that bolded part for sure. We've never had that situation.

B: 92.3 The "Fan" is the funniest thing I've ever listened to. They are "for Cleveland Sports" but they constantly throw everyone and everything under the bus the first chance they get. They thrive on the negativity and spit out poison on any of the clubs the first chance they get.

C: Waters is trying to pump his team, 92.3 did nothing to help increase attendance for a top match-up (just over 4200 for game that would determine first place) and they spent more time talking about Gary then the Vikings anyway.

92.3 would rather talk about OSU or a draft that is 2 months away then spend any time on CSU. Waters knew what he would get this morning with those dopes Kylie (sic) and Booms "What happened coach, why should Cleveland want to come watch that garbage?"

I'm left with one question after that game though.

How in the world did we lose to either of those teams?

Hey, don't be selling us short. We have the capability to lose to worse teams than either of those two.

I don't see why the station would deliberately start something, after they campaigned all day yesterday. Whether there was a miscommunication, or Gary had a "change of heart" after higher-ups found out what was going on, we'll never know. The two hosts seemed split after the interview.

MY GOD Cleveland State was lame last night.

I have no love for CSU, but Kyley and Booms are both hacks. What a joke of a station. I was hoping for something fresh when they came in, but we just get the same old tired mix of non-stop Browns and Suckeyes. It's really frustrating.

Me too. The station picks up on one thing, and that's all they want to talk about from 6am til midnight. You can't change the subject. The Cavs didn't exist until they beat Boston and Dallas. The Akron grad makes fun of the MAC now that he's moved on to the big city.

But they did succeed in making the Really Big Show cut the BS character role playing and improve their show. Now if they would just give Roda his own show again and put Reggi on at a time I don't listen, it would be almost listenable.

Hats off to those of you who listen to local sports talk. I can't do it. I could care less about the Cleveland pro teams or the Buckeyes. I hear enough talk about those teams in my everyday life. However, I am addicted to the Bill King and Jack Arute shows on XM. Only reason why I keep my subscription going.

I was listening this morning on my way to my office. As it turns out, the SID did tell the producer it was likely he wouldn't be able to get Waters on. I have to agree with those who have noted the penchant for negativity by Kylie and Booms. Laying on that SID and Waters before they even had all the facts is just unprofessional. If I were a Clevelander, I'd more than happy to have Waters in town. The guy's a damned good coach and a decent guy. The Vikings have a good coach, an awesome arena and finally have a consistently competitive program. I expect they'll get over the hump in the Horizon one of these days, and to have the coach trashed on local radio by a couple of hacks is a joke.

On a side note, I was more than happy to see Waters leave K.e.n.t for Rutgers, because-- in the long run-- I think his departure set them back quite a bit and made Akron's continued improvement a heckuva lot easier than it might have been. I'm even happier he is at CSU and not coaching in our league.

You should check out Steve Czaban on Sirius 94/XM 208. I just found he's back on the air/satellite this morning. Something good to listen to when Stern is a re-run.

Sports talk in Cleveland is priceless when:

1-The buckeyes lose. But then again, tosu never loses, the clock just runs out on them. To hear the excuses is over the top. In fact, one fan was reminded today that they went 6-7 this year and he said it didn't matter. Really?

Undeafeated a decade ago matters, but 6-7 does not!! OK.

2. The Steelers win. The hatred toward Steeler fans is funny as heck. To hear a Browns fan describe a Steelers fan is even better. Front runner, pompous, arrogant, never lived in Pittsburgh,etc.. By the way, those are the same terms used to describe Buckeye fans-as many of those same Browns fans are, yet they conveniently forget that.

3. Browns win A game and you instantly hear that they are headed to the Super Bowl...

This is pretty much true...
