johnnyzip84 Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 http://www.ohio.com/blogs/ua-zips/universi...-zippy-1.325731 Thanks yet again! There was lots of good (and welcome!) information today. Can't wait to see Imani Davis show his stuff. BTW, you did a nice job on 1350 am this afternoon Quote

BTW, you did a nice job on 1350 am this afternoon Yes - thanks do much, George. Your descriptive writing really gives a great sense of what practice was like. I am very excited to see how far Zach D'Orazio will progress. He is a big kid with great hands and some decent speed. I think under Coach JB's tutelage he could become a really really good WR. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 Good news about Hakeem Lawrence and DeAndre Scott. We need depth wherever we can get it. Quote
Dr Z Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 Great information, thanks. Camp Zippy??? Sounds like a camp for kids, or mascots. Quote
GP1 Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 I'd be interested to know from Mr. Thomas the situation with the other RBs. Chisholm is mentioned having a long run. I've always thought, given the chance, Chisholm could do that and be a very productive RB. I guess my questions would center around the entire group. Do they seem to run the same plays with all of them or do plays vary based upon who is on the field? Late in a game with the team winning, who is going to be the guy to milk the clock and get the tough yards when everyone knows a running play is coming? Is there a "third down back"? Is the third down back actually good at catching (are any of them good at catching in this offense)? Who is doing a good job of blocking on pass protection? Has anyone taken an unexpected leap forward because their style of running is better suited for this offense? Quote

It's only day #6 - I'm sure there's a long way to go. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 Between Chisholm and Alexander, Alexander is the short-yardage back. Chisholm is an upright, outside the tackles runner. Alexander is a low-to-the-ground power runner that hits the hole quickly. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 A fan question that George might be able to follow up on: What's the scoop with Nick Rossi? FB last year. LB this year. But I haven't heard his name mentioned anywhere? He was one of our more heralded recruits from 2011. Quote

johnnyzip84 Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 GT, I'm surprised you didn't start a thread with your article on the D-Line. There are some interesting tidbits in here. Who knew Nico (and apparently Griggs as well) was moving to tackle? This seems to fit into the "speed first" philosophy (which is one thing that might be going against Rossi getting much playing time at LB). I know I'm repeating myself, but nice job again George! I'd held up a sliver of hope that Wagner might have a change of heart and re-join the Zips. But it looks like it ain't gonna happen. Too bad...while the win total wouldn't be too high for this season, I think the new staff and positive team vibe would have allowed him to leave UA on a better, more positive note. Quote
Ham Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 I would also like to know how Cody Grice is doing? Quote

Maggie Ferrari Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 I'd really like to hear more about the QB battle. Is it still very close? And how have all the others been doing? Quote
