Has anyone heard any mention of the coaches show ( zips live?) or a possible TV coaches show with TB? Here it is less than 2 weeks till the opener and theres been no word/ press release on either. Yes the past Zips live didnt give much reason to listen or attend but I was hoping that UA was revamping that this year. I also find it strange that ( Mr Akron) Joe Dunn's radio show has featured Can't's football coach but Coach Bowden is refusing to go on the air with Joe. It wont affect wins and losses but as for fan base development can we afford to not use every available media to get the word out? On July 4th in the Stow 4th of july parade every one of Kents varsity coaches was featured riding or walking the route but Akron wasnt even present ( not even Zippy).

Why do you say that Coach Bowden has "refused to go on the air with Joe"?

From what I hear, there is going to be a Coach's TV show -- and the sponsor interest/commitment has been very high.

Let's start with SportsTime Ohio. STO gets everybody ramped up for the 2012 season with a five episode mini-series called "Relentless: An Inside Look at Ohio Football '12". And the network kicks the season off with the "MAC Football Preview '12", airing several convenient times the week before the season openers. And during the season a new weekly series "Zips Football with Terry Bowden '12 " highlights the University of Akron.

Thanks! Set to record.

The Terry Bowden show is being taped at Image videos in Louisville- the same set and production facilities as the Keith Dambrot show. No its not going to be the high quality finished work that you see on STO but its what we can afford and its a start so lets not be too critical. Well probably see the same commercials at every break over and over and the same editing we saw on the KD show. Ill be glad to finally have a football coaches show still and hope TB can interject some of his broadcast expertise into the show.

If they don't film in HD that's a problem.

1. Coach Bowden was great. He is a pro in front of the camera and enjoyable to watch.

2. I think there were more highlights in the game one montage than there were for the entire 2011 season.

3. I like the "rising stock" idea.

4. Can we get a sign with "Football with Terry Bowden" centered? Seriously? :wall:

I thought I noticed a considerable difference in the presentation of today's show. The sign, along with on-screen graphics all seemed to be better designed.

Next to correct - The "silent movie" 1st Quarter, 2nd Quarter, 3rd Quarter...intros.

Cutting down on the commercials and having Coach break down a few plays would be swell too. Could you shoehorn any more commercials in a 30 minute show? Yeah I know..."they need to pay the bills."

I watched the coach’s show last night on STO, and TB mentioned having 4 or 5 players joining the team in January. At first I thought he might be talking about JUCO guys, but I think he was probably referring to guys who may regain eligibility in the spring semester. He did bring up DT James Price by name in this regard. He says he’s up to 315 LB. Hopefully we’ll get an indication soon on some of the players from the 2012 class who were not able to qualify initially.

I know it’s getting toward the end of the season, but one segment I hope they either improve or remove next season is the so-called scouting report for the upcoming opponent. Now I’m not 100% sure that they won’t have another show next Monday, but last night they spent about 20 seconds (seriously) discussing Toledo. The only thing they said about the Rockets is that they’re coached by local product Matt Campbell. Not even one player was mentioned. If you’re going to have a scouting report at all, I think you need some video and a discussion of key players on both sides of the ball. Hopefully, they’ll keep the show going next year and invest a little more into the details.

By the way, there was no mention on who might play QB in the finale. TB remains upbeat and positive, which is really important when the players are probably feeling the mounting effects of the losses.

What do you expect from a show hosted by Joe Dunn? He does do a good job of announcing the game time, though...
