Ohiofan23 Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Good game yesterday Akron, Terry Bowden is doing a good job so far at Akron and in a season or two Ohio and Akron could possibly start to move our rivalry from the hardwood to the field. Your team is showing more fight right now compared to when Ianello (sp?) was coach. Hope you guys can get a win or two in conference, and maybe bring the wagon wheel back to Akron, good luck the rest of the way and I hope anybody who made the trip to Athens enjoyed their stay despite the outcome of the game. Cheers, Ohiofan23 Quote
zipsfan33 Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Thanks Ohiofan23, comments like yours are always welcome. I am glad to see that some people can come aboard and recognize whats happening here and not be arrogant or stupid. As always I look forward to some hard fought hardwood battles this winter! Good luck on the undefeated season! Quote

Ohiofan23 Posted October 15, 2012 Author Report Posted October 15, 2012 No problem guys, after all a strong Akron is good for the MAC. Do you guys think Bowden will stick around like Solich will? Or is this more of a spring board stop? Not trying to rain on anybody's parade, I'm just curious. Quote

I always get excited when I see a schedule with the Zips heading to OU during homecoming weekend. What a party! Quote

The market for 60 year old D1 coaching hires is fairly small, if not non-existent. Yeah, I know his dad coached until he was 97 (or thereabouts), but that's a different circumstance. The mid-tier schools that would be interested in a 60 year old Terry Bowden are in Akron's "league," and I think we would successfully compete for his services. Proenza will not drop back into the football abyss without a massive fight. Personally, I see Bowden staying here. He'll get good money, he's got great facilities, and Father Time is on the Zips' side. If he does leave...Tressel's banishment should be about over, and we can give him a whistle and a blue vest and let him have at it. Quote
skip-zip Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 I'm definitely crossing my fingers that the Terry Bowden era at Akron at least equals the Solich-led climb at OU. And I do believe that Bowden's age makes him more likely to end his career here. Quote

GP1 Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 I thought Tressel was the next coach of the Cleveland Browns? He'll fit right in with the QB they draft in two years. Quote
