There is a certain faction within UA across a broad swath of the institution that, for whatever reason, has made it their mission to sabotage anything related to athletics. At universities like OU and Can't, they have outspoken professors and others who complain to the media, stage open protests, and other things to let the world know their views on athletics. At Akron, they stay silent, but work their influences to screw us over. They do not share President Proenza's belief that athletics is like the front porch of a university. They dismiss the effect it can have on alumni interest, or long for the good old days of being D-III with no scholarships granted based on athletic ability.

We've got a problem at Akron and the current focus appears to be on the basketball program because football did a great job of destroying itself without their intervention and soccer is untouchable thanks to strong academics and a coach who intimidates them.

This is as good an explanation as anyone could give. Non-athletics people are doing their best to screw with the workings

of the athletic programs. Right now the target seems to be men's basketball because it has been successful Stay tuned.

There always have been and there always will be professors who stage protests because they believe their University spends too much money on sports. It goes on everywhere. For the most part, they are probably right if they believe big time college athletics are contrary to the mission of a university. They are, but I still like them and will continue to follow.

Sometimes Profs can't always bend or accommodate due to circumstances, and afterall, a class is class.

But if they are being hard-ons for the sake of stubbornness and resentment, I hope they are at the top of their field and difficult to replace.

If professor poindexter pocket protector is being deliberatly vindictive toward an athlete just b/c of who he is, then said pocket protector should be fired (or lose tenure) or at the very least reprimaned/suspended.

I am surprised that our friends in Carolina figured out our dirty secret about Walsh. How we made up the MAC 4th team last season to intimidate future opponents.

I guess now they will leave Walsh open, particularly behind the three point line.

That can't be it. There is no such a thing as an exam that can't be re-scheduled. Unexcused absence may lead to class failure but excused absence may not. If you're in the hospital or had a court date, you won't fail.

Next question is: what is an excused absence? and I can report to you that in my DIII school, athletic commitment IS an excused absence and it is documented in the books whether professors like it or not... so it better be in a DI school like Akron.

At this point, I’m not really concerned about WHY Tree and Nick won’t play tomorrow night. I’m far more concerned over HOW the Zips perform without them. Coastal has been a consistently good program, they are picked by many to represent the Big South in the 2013 NCAA Tourney, AND they’re opening up their brand new (though small) gym. If Alex isn’t near 100% (or can’t play much), if the talented freshmen have many “deer in the headlights” moments, and/or if the refs in Conway decide to serve up the home cooking, this game could easily slip away from the talented Zips. I have a feeling Pat Forsythe might come up big to prevent that from happening.

This has now gone beyond basketball. It is not fair for these guys, who have worked so hard to get to the place they are now, for someone to try to sabotage their career. I am very proud for what they have accomplished so far and am very upset that anyone would try to knock them off their pedestal.

yeah I dont get it, but whatever. It sure would suck to start the season with a loss to Coastal Carolina. I think we will be fine, though.
