Chauncey is the key to the Zips doing any real post season damage. Guys like Kretzer and McAdams will have their moments, but having a steady, healthy senior in CG is absolutely invaluable. His sweet three's were just as critical as Zeke's blocks and free throws on Saturday. Loved having him back in the line up.

I agree completely. I think KD feels the same way, but Chauncey's injury was keeping him from performing up to his potential. It was nice seeing him make a difference at crunch time.

Nice game by Zeke.

If you don't want to see people analyzing and criticizing the play of a basketball player, don't read any of the blog sites of that particular team.

It would be a really good idea for some not to read such sites if Zeke catches on with a Pro team. Some of the more critical comments that have appeared on this board will look almost complimentary compared to what is likely to show up there.

Most of the Zips players' parents, relatives and good friends who post on ZN.o appear to have no problem with constructive criticism and suggestions from fans who balance their critiques by acknowledging what the players are doing right.

Thanks for pointing that out about Chauncey. 1000 pts is a great accomplishment. I'm guessing that UA didn't recognize it because less than a 1/3 of them came while he was a Zip.

Thanks very much...So if you transfer where is the fairness or does that take away the fact...I just mentioned it as in he just plays and not just for recognition of accomplishments.

It's possible that they overlooked it because of the transfer. Maybe the stats person wasn't looking at points totals from UMBC.

They should announce it on Saturday.

Without Chauncey we wouldn't have beaten Ken.t on Saturday.

Absolutely! His threeballs stemmed the tide at the darkest moment and helped give Alex and Brian the confidence to hit their daggers in crunch time. Plus he was willing to guard K.E.N.T.'s small forward (position 3) when Harney fouled out, even though he was giving up a few inches. It was a perfect example that he values team play and will do whatever is asked to help the team win.

Thanks Game Changer for this post addressing these kind of comments. I've had to read posts slamming Chauncey for not playing well as expected in the past couple of weeks. It's not easy to hear the fans who suppose to love the player throw out insults about him without understanding or compassion of his personal struggles. But when the play is exceptional you very rarely hear them give any credit where credit is due. Chauncey hurt his knee two or three weeks prior to the season started and wanted to avoid surgery because he didn't want to let the team down along with jeopardizing other future personal and professional goals. He fought hard to get back in the last couple of weeks to get back, almost two or three weeks earlier than expected. That kind of applause for that kind of dedication and determination actually go unnoticed. Another point I would like to make is Chauncey also scored his 1000 plus college career points and no one pointed that out nor any school recognition. Unfortunately its almost the same fans who post the negative comments like they live for the negative. I do understand their love and compassion for the team and is passionate of their team's success. But while the player is in the valley it doesn't help to hear all the negative stuff..Good for you standing up for your kid and having total belief in him even doing the lows.

I'm feeling both of u 100%.

The UA Athletics Department isn't infallible. I suggest when you notice accomplishments like this that seem to have gone unrecognized, send a nice e-mail to the UA Sports Information Director (SID) specific to that sport. They are all listed at http://www.gozips.com/athletics/staffdirectory/index under the heading "Communications".

Assuming that I didn't...it was brought to their attention. This is no big deal for me or Chauncey!!!

I apologize as I didn't mean to imply that you hadn't brought this to the Athletic Department's attention. I guess my post was poorly worded. I was just trying to point out that we can all help the Athletic Department with this kind of information. Thanks for pointing out that Chauncey has scored 1000+ points; I didn't know that. I respect and appreciate our players and love to see them recognized for their accomplishments.

Congratulations on that 1000 pt mark. A lot of buckets. Something to be proud of. I hope I enjoy the feeling before the ride is over. Your son is one of the truest competitors on that team.

Chauncy is my favorite zip right now. While I bet most players are very emotionally involved and fired up about games, chauncy is one of the few that truly shows it. this makes him very exciting to watch, especially when he is getting the rest of the team fired up. Coach always says it because its so true: we dont have a star of the team, and thats what I love about the zips.

I agree with that for the most. We can debate all day who would be the Zip MVP at this point ( My vote would be split between Tree and Zeke for the time being) but to me Chauncy is the face of the Zips for the reasons that you stated. This team needs more Chauncy and less Jake on the floor. That was the difference betwen the two halves at Can't St IMO. Don't get me wrong, Jake looks like he'll have a big impact on our team in years ahead but he's not there yet and Chauncy is.

Right now, everyone plays in the shadow of Zeke. Literally!

Next year, Tree will play 30+ minutes a game. Pat F probably more! CG will be gone, along with BW. They are seniors, and it is their time to step up. CG certainly did that against K E N T.

Zeke should get a shot at MAC MVP. We would not win half our games without him.

But Tree is the future. With Zeke gone, he will be our other big guy, and the way he is progressing he will be unstoppable as a senior.

Next season the front line will be built around Treadwell, Forsythe and Harney with two great new "kickers".

Kwan Cheatam and Isaiah Johnson are both having excellent senior years in high school. They both can step in and contribute

immediately. The other three recruits are all doing well, too.

Like most high majors, the Zips are simply "reloading".

Here's another stat. Zeke is ranked #15 in the country in value added to the team. He ranked higher than the kids from Kentucky (Noel) and Kansas (Whithey). - Value Added Basketball

Also agree. We NEED CHAUNCEY on the FLOOR!!

This topic was about being mindful of player insults coming from fans and not what player is better than the other. No disrespect to Zeke or Tree, but Chauncey plays in nobody's shadow...Chauncey, Zeke, and Tree have different roles as well as play different positions with different skill sets. The team concept; there are 15 guys and each are equally important IMO. Chauncey gave up coming to Akron a team he captained as a Sophomore where he demonstrated he has the ability to take over games. But, out of respect he understands he transferred into Zeke's team and he honors that with hopes of making it to the NCAA tourney... Chauncey has been to a final conference game twice with two different teams. He want for the first time to play in the post season and WIN some games. This is his last ride as a college player, right now he doesn't care who is better or worst, he just want to WIN and he will do whatever he has to in assisting that effort. Everything else takes care of itself.
