They're going to year down the Heisman Lodge along with the Bowl.  That seems such a shame, especially before they come up with any redevelopment plans!

The Heisman Lodge always smelled like mold. I'm sure recent years haven't made it better.

I remember the Zips games there, it seemed like every time I went there they were playing against a Tennessee Something opponent.

I went to a couple Cleveland Force games at the Rubber Bowl, when Bart Wolstein owned the team. He was looking into the outdoor leagues (ASL, NASL) but figured out there were in as much trouble as the indoor leagues.

Before that there were other exhibition games, at least one with the Jacksonville Teamen. I don't know if they were ASL or NASL at the time. I went with a church youth group, it was my first exposure to the world's game.

So, did they actually demolish and remove the Rubber Bowl in its entirety?  Seems like they have been talking about it forever.

They did. I happened to drive past yesterday and it's completely gone.

I was born, and spent the first 31 years of my life, in Akron and never heard of the Heisman lodge before!

It smelled like mold.

Maybe they were storing John's football gear in a closet there.

No. Just stale air.
