How disgusted was Kansas Coach Bill Self with the Jayhawks' performance against TCU last night? Disgruntled Bill Self compares 'worst Kansas team ever' to Northern Illinois

Overreact much, coach? Betcha NIU fans would be willing to trade teams. And he ripped his point guard after the loss to OK St. Somewhere, recruits are noticing. This is the time of year where nothing to lose teams are really coming at the frontrunners. It's why I'm nervous for the rest of the Zips schedule, they have to play at a high level for all 40 minutes.

Maybe not as big an overreaction as you might think if you believe the Sporting News story, Jayhawks vs. Horned Frogs: Calling Kansas' Upset Loss the Year's Biggest Too Limiting:

According to Jerry Palm of CBSSports.com, there has not been a wider differential in RPI rankings between an upset winner and its victim than TCU (No. 236) and KU (No. 7) in the two decades he has been tracking the ratings.

And then there was Illinois, 2-7 in the Big Ten entering tonight's game with #1 Indiana as a huge underdog. Boom. A 74-72 upset, and another conference leader falls to a team near the bottom of the conference. This is what the Zips will face over their next 7 MAC games.

I'm with you on the TCU-KU upset. That was monumental and proves the point that a cellar dweller can occasionally jump up to bite a league leader.

Not so much on Illinois-Indiana. If the 12-team Big 10 gets 8 bids this year, the last one likely will go to Illinois.

Illinois and Akron have essentially equal Sagarin rankings, so their victory over Indiana definitely is an upset. Nevertheless, it's not as monumental as KU's absolute collapse against a team that's somewhere between Miami and Buffalo (even after beating KU).

Tree receives huge props from KD:

“I thought he came back and played within himself really well,” UA coach Keith Dambrot said of Treadwell. “He’s a big key for us now. We have to have him now. That’s our new Romeo Travis. We don’t have anything that equals him at this point. Treadwell’s our best player. When he got back in the game, it was a huge difference.”

Demetrius Treadwell could be the key to Zips success from MTAF.
