mes102 Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 After beating Miami(OH) saturday in battle for first place in MAC East, Lady Zips are now 5-0 in MAC East play, and are in sole possession of first place in MAC East. Here's the MAC Women's standings right now: MAC West Toledo 14-1 Central Michigan 10-4 Ball State 12-3 Eastern Michigan 6-9 Western Michigan 5-10 Northern Illinois 2-12 MAC East Akron 11-4 BGSU 10-5 Miami(OH) 9-6 Buffalo 8-7 Can't State 1-14 Ohio 1-14 Akron has big home game this upcoming saturday against Ball State Also, this Lady Zips team only has TWO SENIORS Quote
MDZip Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 Pretty amazing to see the Zips ahead of BGSU (of course they did beat them). This is the opposite of the mens since most of the strength is in the West (as the only losses the East leader has is to the West). But Akron does bring back a great core next year too, since Carly Young is ready to fill in for Taylor Ruper. Next year looks bright for this team too. Quote
MDZip Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 Zips held on to sole possession of first in the MAC East by beating a very good Ball State team. They have a very big game at BGSU Wednesday night, BGSU has dominated the MAC over the last number of years and the Zips could almost eliiminate them from East title contention with a win. Zips have put themselves in good position for a top four seed (which would give them a bye instead of having to win two games to get that point). Their biggest issue is they have two teams in the West (Toledo, CMU) who are the equivalent of Akron and Ohio on the Men's side. Going to be very tough to beat. Terrific season so far by the ladies, only one victory off their best total in history with at least 6 more games to go. Go Zips! Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 Funny how the Zips and K.e.n.t women's teams have switched places (from 8-or-so years ago). I saw STO promoting their televised game this coming Saturday. Lady Zips should win by around 38? Quote
akzipper Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 Not sure if this has been posted yet. The Lady Zips are visiting BG on Wednesday, and the BG coach's last name is Roos. Not creative and not funny. An obvious jab at Akron while trying to promote their coach. Quote

Captain Kangaroo Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 Continuing my assaut on Lady Zips' hoops - I saw in the PD that the Zips recently beat BGSU, cutting the all-time series deficit to 47-3. THAT'S amazing. Quote

Only down six points with 9 turnovers(BG with 9 points off those turnovers), and BG hitting 6 three-pointers in the first half? I'd take that all day long! Just have to rebound better.... Quote
