ZachTheZip
There's no way to know what the ballots look like in the Coaches Poll, but we're sitting at #28 and the #24, #23, #22, #21, and #20 teams all lost. We should move up in the AP poll as well.

We should move up in the AP poll as well. It's not just about the positions. It's about the votes. We had only 19. To break the top 25 at least in last weeks poll you needed something like 50. So even if those teams lost votes, their drop and our rise (if any) probably isn't nearly enough.

Remember, if a voter moves us up from 25 to 24, we get two votes instead of one. I'm guessing that most voters that had us at #25 last week will move us up, because so many ahead of us have lost on their ballots. Even though we don't know their ballots, the odds are pretty good that they had some of the teams that lost directly ahead of us. We will at least double our vote total, maybe triple it. GoZips88
Any additional votes and possible rise in the polls mean zilch if we don't take care of business in Athens Wednesday night. Keeping winning, especially those games that matter, and the polls will take care of themselves.

Keeping winning, especially those games that matter, and the polls will take care of themselves. Sure it means something. Polls come out on Monday. We don't play in Athens until 2 days later. Even if we lose in Athens, we would still be spending a week in the highest poll position that we've occupied in our D1 basketball history. So, regardless of what happens on Wednesday, this is going to be a historic week for Zips Basketball that we're sure to remember for a long time. pdt1420
So which is the ranking they use to put the number next to your name during the game? Because I so want to see "#24 Akron" somewhere.

Because I so want to see "#24 Akron" somewhere. I would think they would use either--as long as were ranked in at least 1 poll. Wouldn't it be in the broadcastor's best interest to put our #24 ranking up because it makes the game that more appealing for the casual viewer. Dave in Green
During televised games they typically use the highest poll ranking to make the game appear more important. EDIT: Gotta be quick around here to get in an original comment.

Dave in Green
Big perception difference between the coaches and the sportswriters. I'm thinking the coaches have a better idea of who they'd rather not have to go up against in the NCAA tournament.
