mes102
First time since 03-04 that Bowling Green doesn't have at least a share of the MAC East title. Coach Kest has done an amazing job with this program. Lady Zips will have either the #2 or #3 seed in the MAC tournament. If it's #2 seed, they will be playing on MAC semifinal friday. Should head out earlier to see the Lady Zips and make it an Akron basketball full day in Cleveland!!!! And with any luck, we'll have both teams playing for a MAC title on saturday!!!!!!!! Friday would be a 2:30pm tip-off for #2 seed, if Lady Zips get the bye to semifinals. *Only reason for not knowing if it's a #2 or #3 seed for Lady Zips seed, is confusing tie breaker rules*

MDZip
A number 2 seed is HUGE and with the only losses that Zips have had in conference this year (Toledo, BGSU, CMU and even WMU) are on the other side of the bracket - nice stroke of luck too. A bye all of the way until Friday - heck of a job Coach Kest and company. I also take a small amount of schadenfreude in the proceedings to figure out who gets the last seed in the tournament. Ohio and Can't both finished at 1-15 and only beat each other so the only way to decide the final two spots is with a coin flip. I have nothing against those two women's teams, but they are Can't and Ohio.
ZachTheZip
Nice. That means that the Women play at 2:30 and the Men play at 6:30 next Friday, guaranteed. Sounds like Zips fans will need to set up camp at the Q, with a short interlude at the downtown bars.

MDZip
Two would have been better as it would have been one less game but the brackets stack up as expected which leaves the other side as the far tougher bracket in my opinion (Toledo, CMU and BGSU) so a three is still pretty good. The last time BGSU didn't win the MAC East in 04-05 was because they weren't in the East, they were in the West (and won that division then) because Marshall was in the East. Maybe this is karmic payback for the whole creepy Ali Mann thing. In any case this is a pretty big watershed moment for the Zips women's basketball team (and almost the entire team will return next year. Cool.) Captain Kangaroo
This is the splash page you get when you go to GoZips.com right now. Pretty cool. How can this be? I thought K.e.n.t. State was the Championship Factory? If Willie doesn't bring up the fact that "The Zips are the REAL Championship Factory" during one of his time-out appearances Friday night, he should retire his mike. GP1
Other than the long term success of Zips soccer, I believe this is the most remarkable success in the history of Zips sports. The women's program Kest took over was a complete disaster and she turned it around. No coach at our school has taken a worse program, including Bowden, and turned it around like this. Does anyone have any further questions about Kest's methods in weeding out malcontents and players whose #1 priority isn't winning? Kest is here to win, not hold hands and sing "We are the World". Job well done Coach Kest.

mes102
I thought that CMU had to lose in order for us to get the #2 seed. Akron is 8-0 against the teams in their half of the bracket. Very lucky to have no BGSU, CMU, or Toledo on our half of the bracket. The fact we return 4 of our starters, and practically our entire bench next year, we're one year ahead of schedule. Ruper and Bubna are only ones that will not be back next year, and the incoming freshmen class will make practices almost tougher than majority of the MAC games next season. Our bench could win 7-9 games on their own in the MAC next season. Wonder where I heard that before...
