zestycoyote Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 No matter how the game went tonight, we watched the last game ever for our three seniors. I want to wish all three the best of luck in all future endeavors. Looking forward to watching Zeke in the NBA. Quote

mes102 Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 +10000000000 However, i don't agree about the Zeke-NBA thing right now. I'm not going to say anything more than that, because these past two weeks has been so many distractions(even if they don't want to admit it), and I'm not going to beat on it while wounded. Quote

He didn't have a great game, but it's because he isn't the one that was giving up the three-point shots. VCU played around him. He'll still be in the NBA in some form, for some amount of time. Quote

It happens, but when that's your specialty, you need to do your best to stay consistent. Chauncey played well at times tonight, and just felt bad for Brian tonight. These 3 seniors have made it a memorable few years of Zips basketball. Can't wait for next year already... Quote
zippy5 Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 Thank you seniors! What a year. Feel so bad for Brian, probably the worst day of his life to be sick. Gotta be crushed. Thanks for a fun season. Quote

Big Zip Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 @skip zip I think the reference to playing around Zeke was to the tear drop shops that simply went over his outstretched hands. VCU clearly new they need to adjust their shots to get them off. My best to all three seniors! Zeke, Brian and Chauncey thank you for a a great ride! You'll be missed and I wish you the best. Quote
GP1 Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 @skip zip I think the reference to playing around Zeke was to the tear drop shops that simply went over his outstretched hands. Or, A10 players play against good centers all year long and Zeke was just another good center they were comfortable playing against. The MAC has absolutely terrible big men. Most of them aren't even very big, they are just the tallest guys their team has. VCU's aggressive play permeates every aspect of what they do. In the MAC, teams get the ball around Zeke and try to pump fake 50 times before getting a shot blocked. Or worse, the pump fake three times and try to pass it to a guy two feet away with a defense that has collapsed around the ball. Inside play is horrible in the MAC. VCU took it right to us in the paint and got quick shots up before Zeke could size it up. They attack. If you give Zeke a pump fake or two, he will size it up and send the ball into the stands. If you take it right to him, you have a better shot. Quote
Blue & Gold Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 Brian, Chauncey and especially Zeke. I'm definitely going to miss these three. It's not going to be the same without them. I still remember seeing Zeke walk through the JAR as a high school recruit. I had no idea who he was, but man was he TALL! The Rome, Dru & Wood teams still hold a special place in my heart, and likewise, I know this team is going to as well. Additionally, I'm truly going to miss MommaZeke. The last 4-years of her postings have been special. MommaZeke, if you read this, please don't be a stranger! You and Zeke will always be Zips, so please stay in touch with ZipsNation! God bless you guys. We love you. Quote
taxpayer Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 Brian - thanks for your leadership, heart to win, defense and being a true stand up guy and player! Chauncey - thanks for your emotion, heart, colorful actions during games and your personality! Zeke - thanks for making defense a topic of conversation, pleasant demeanor and attracting better players like yourself! All three of you brought the 1st regular season championship in 2012 and brought BOTH the regular season and Conference championship to Akron! All three are excellent ambassadors for the Zips and their families! Well done, gentlemen! Quote
