K92 Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/...loes?src=mobile What does everyone think? Will he be the starter or just provide depth? Can't see him winning the starting job, especially since Jawon Chisholm already proclaimed KP16 "The Truth". Quote
ZachTheZip Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 While we're at it, maybe we can add another transfer QB who knows the offensive system very well. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 If he was leaving because of playing time issues, Hirschman might regret transferring out now. Quote
LZIp Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 If he was leaving because of playing time issues, Hirschman might regret transferring out now. Webb tore his ACL in the spring. Little to no chance he would make it back for this season. Quote

I think he believes he'll get a fair shot at being the starter or having substantial playing time, or he would not have jumped to Akron. Quote

Just because he'll get a fair shot doesn't mean he's in any way good enough to win the starting spot. Granted, he's almost certainly better than our current back-ups, but i don't see him being able to take the starting spot from Kyle Pohl, and i don't see it as being all that close of a competition. Hey, just thought you guys would be happy to get a graduate transfer regardless. He got a raw deal at Colorado (3 coaches in 3 years) and he's taking a chance on Akron being better, while Akron is taking a chance on him. Let's hope for the best. Quote

Anyone with half a brain is excited to get a graduate BCS QB transfer. Our present back ups are not D1-A material. If we lost Pohl in week #1, there would be a very real chance of going 0-12 this year. With solid QB play, we can flirt with .500. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 ESPN Insider article posted this morning. I can't read it, but I don't think expect that it contains any earth-shattering information. Quote

Anyone that watched the spring game should be thrilled that he decided to transfer in. Our current backups are not D1 quarterbacks. We had all of our eggs in the Woodson basket hoping that he will come in and be what we all expect him to be. I feel a lot better now. Quote

I wrote my essay on the other link, but I think you will like Nick. I do know he had other options, so if he chose Akron, there's a reason. And (much like Colorado), there's no place to go except up. K92 Posted June 4, 2013 Report Posted June 4, 2013 I didn't know where I should post this, but wanted to share because it's a pretty good read. I put it here because it illustrates the state of CU football, but I probably could have stuck it in GP1's "When ADs Strike" thread as well. Quote

Sounds, in many ways, of what we have faced at Akron. Somethine has to be done about the ridiculousness surrounding college football, or it will continue to destroy the academics of the institutions that they are supposed to be representing. Quote

Is what has gone on in college football in recent years ridiculous? Of course it is. It would be funny if it didn't present such a danger to schools. The problem is it is so out of control that the only course of action is to continue with the nonsense of pumping millions of taxpayers dollars into it at the expense of actually advancing society with scholarship, or the "building process" will collapse like the house of cards it is. This is why MAClike conferences need to immediately stop chasing the BCS level conference and find a place they can exist where they can maximize income and reduce the insane spending. Quote

johnnyzip84 Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 Springfield News-Sun story on how KP16 is rising to the challenge. “Kyle’s had a great summer. He’s the one that organizes the summer throwing. I think he knows somebody’s come in that wants to take his position.” Quote
