Blue & Gold
I watched the game online last night & the Zips must've controlled possession of the ball for literally 90% of the match. I read in the ABJ this morning that the Zips led in shots 28-3, shots on goal 7-2 and corner kicks 7-1. But to no avail. We don't seem to have a top-shelf striker. bigzipguy
Last night was one of the rare times I missed a match. That is what happens sometimes in soccer, dominating possession time, getting off many more shots that the opposition, yet giving up a goal. Read where their GK made some great saves. Nevertheless, you have got to find a way to get it done. Sometimes easier said than done. Stay with it Zips.
TrippleZip
After watching last nights game, it seemed we have a long season ahead of us.

I don't believe a ball reflected off the GK all night to give us a second shot on goal.
fknbuflobo
I beg to differ. VCU GK did nothing spectacular. Zips' finishing was excrutiatingly poor. Sometimes when a net-minder stands on his head it is the deciding factor of the match. That was not the case last night.
GoZips88
Niagara is the one with a long season ahead of them. Seems like San Diego State kept the ball in the Niagara half the entire match. I don't believe Niagara had any shots on goal or corner kicks. We're going to win far more than we lose controlling the ball as much as we do but it is obvious we are missing chemistry or a piece or two when it comes to generating offense/finishing right now. I like what I've seen so far and am relieved that we continue to play the style of soccer we've become accustomed to. Hopefully one or more of our guys will step up as the season goes along and overall chemistry improves. Frustrating last night but I think we owe Embick, his staff and the players our patience. Go Zips!

I just noticed that the GK did catch the ball so we didn't get any 2nd chance shots @ an open net off of a ricochet. Also, we don't seem, as a team, to collectively bum rush the goal. It always feels like it's only our 2 forwards against about 6-8 defenders in the box.

I'm happy with the amount of possession, we're just not finishing. We will work through this. Someone has to step up. Also, when Bryan is out, someone needs to step up and be the leader whether or not that player is a captain.
