MTSU is new to Conference USA this season, and is being picked in preseason polls to finish mid-pack in the 16-team conference. The Blue Raiders lost their top two scorers, three starters and five of their top six leaders in minutes played from last season's strong team. While MTSU won't be as tough this year as last, the Zips haven't proven yet that they are as good this year as last. I expect the Zips to come into this game with a chip on their shoulder after being embarrassed by Saint Mary's. The Zips will almost certainly shoot a higher percentage from the field in this game. Progress at the point, better interaction and coordination among the players and protecting the ball better are key things to watch for. MTSU is always tough at home, but this is a winnable game if the Zips play up to preseason expectations.

The way they blew us out at their place two years ago still hurts. We even struggled to beat them on our home floor last year.

I'm glad to hear that they had some significant personnel losses.

Time to turn that around.

@Dr Z, do you know if there's a fairly standard number for homecourt point advantage in betting calculations for point spreads? I'm just curious how much of that 6-point spread is based on homecourt advantage and how much on the perception that MTSU is a better team.

This team has all the looks of a group that bought into the hype too much. They think they are better than they are and don't have to work hard at it. MTSU is killing us on the glass, we aren't closing out on the 3-point line and our passing is extremely lazy.

Stupid replay made me miss the turnover committed when I KNOW we were looking for ONE shot at the end of the half.

They must have hired the AKRON scoreboard clock video crew after we fired them. At least we are not paying to see it.

I don't know of a "standard." I use trends. KD and iCoach have been the absolute best. Here is something you may enjoy reading.
