I love how they are slurping all over Booker and he hasnt really done anything. Yeah...he looks really nice in his uniform.

He had a big catch that led to their first FG and a fumble recovery. He is Mr. Ohio football...they are going to talk about him a lot.

It wasnt actually a catch. He dropped it. Newman Williams caused the fumble. He landed on it. You are a slurper.

Pretty sure the refs ruled it a catch, which is all that really matters. I don't know why it's so hard to just enjoy watching our players in the state championship game without the little brother syndrome getting in the way. Williams has gotten plenty of recognition.

Little brother syndrome??? I will take Williams all day. I have no little brother syndrome.

Does this make you feel good? Talking trash on a teenager, just because of the college he's going to? Get a life.

Listed as 253 right now, I wonder what his playing weight will be when he takes his first real snap as a Zip...and how close to the ball will he be? Kid has some real lower body strength.

I'm not trashing him. I couldnt care less where he goes to school. It was just tiring watching the camera always on him while the announcers drooled all over him. Good for him.

Booker has great measurable and, like someone said, looks good in the uniform.

However, I honestly think Newman will be a better college player.

Much more physical and instinctive.

Bingo on his instincts. He made a lot of obviously instrumental plays last night. But I also noticed a few things that highlight his high football IQ. One of them occurred when the Trotwood QB was running from a D-Lineman up field for about 3 yards. Newman came up to possibly make a tackle, but as he realized the QB was already going down he laid off at the last minute. A move like that shows a very keen understanding of the game and, in particular, the way the game is CALLED in 2013.

The obvious concern will be can the Zips hold off the last minute suitors from the BCS conferences, as these will surely come. As for now, I like what I have heard from Newman and his father in terms of the solidity of his oral commitment, but only time will tell.

I agree with Dr Z about his exceptional lower body strength. I remember commenting on the size of Cody Grice’s legs back when he was a fullback under Ianello and how it seemed that he could be better used elsewhere on the field. It seems as if Newman could play any number of positions in college. I still like him as a middle LB first, but it’s not too hard to imagine him playing DT or NG even at some point.

I haven't had a chance to see Newman play. Does anyone think he'd have a chance as a spot RB in goal line situations at the D1 college level or are his superior size, weight and speed only applicable for RB at the HS level?

I think he could. He's pretty athletic for his size. But we have Conor Hundley for that, at least for a few more years. Not sure I would see Williams taking that duty from him.

In terms of total playing ability, I think Williams' size benefits him a decent amount at the HS level. Williams will be a good player, but IMO, Junius has a lot more potential.

I was wondering the same thing. I think Junius may have more up side at the college level. The kid is one hell of an athlete and he has a chance to get in a D1 weight room.

I wasn't thinking of Williams replacing Hundley in goal line situations as much as joining him in the backfield. The two of them together might make a great combination of blocking backs, decoys and ball carriers.
