Balsy
Isnt it illegal for "fans" to contact recruits about attending their school? Syracuse offered Washington and he is getting bombared by their fans on twitter. Sad. It is sad. But I also don't understand how the NCAA can make it "illegal"...what, institutions are supposed to monitor and be responsible for fan behavior on social media?? LZIp
bunch of sour grapes on this thread. Its nothing new. Thank Buckley for what he did for us. Heard from a very reliable source that Arrington and him were our best recruiters.

Dr Z
Actually, yesIf you are tweeting a recruit, you're committing an NCAA violation “Fans cannot contact a recruit and attempt to entice them to attend a certain school, as this is a violation of NCAA rules,” read Woodley’s statement. “If a school comes across an instance of this happening, it is expected they would reach out to those athletics personnel, fans and boosters and reinforce the ground rules related to communicating with recruits. This communication outreach would most likely be reported to the NCAA, which would show the school is doing their due diligence to abide by the NCAA rules.”
Dave in Green
Over the years I've read lots of stories about recruits following a coach or assistant coach from one school to another. Ideally you'd want members of your coaching staff to use the school and program as the primary recruiting tools. But some recruits and their families are always going to be more swayed by personal relationship, and if the person doing the recruiting moves from one school to another, a certain percentage of their recruits can be expected to follow. Sometimes your school benefits by gaining an incoming coach's recruits and sometimes it loses recruits along with departing coaching staff. It's all part of the game. Zipgrad01
I am not going to post the whole article because it is a premium one on rivals, but I will post the last 2 sentences.... Washington told rivals.com that he'll make a final decision after his two official visits to Louisville and Syracuse. "I'm still committed to Akron, but I'm going to take these last two visits and I'll have to see how I feel about everything. I'll announce a few days before signing day." I hope things go well for you this term in your "Waking up and smelling the Coffee" class. It wouldn't matter if we had signed a CB coach seven days ago - he's gone. johnnyzip84
Louisville Courier Story Three-star Miami cornerback Trumaine Washington, who is committed to Akron, said he’ll visit U of L as well. New U of L secondary coach Terrell Buckley was his primary recruiter on the Akron staff, and new U of L wide receivers coach Lamar Thomas recruited him while on Petrino’s staff at Western Kentucky. Washington said he has a U of L offer, although it’s possible the Cards will have to weigh their needs after cornerback Shaquille Jones of Palm Bay, Fla., became Petrino’s first U of L pledge on Wednesday night. Washington is also considering Syracuse. We'll just have to see how the Cards fall...........ba-dump bump

Killian cornerback Trumaine Washington was among the group that made an official visit with Louisville over the weekend. I still think Malachi Freeman might be the most difficult guy to replace in 2014.
Captain Kangaroo
I still think Malachi Freeman might be the most difficult guy to replace in 2014. I don't know if replacing Freeman, or replacing the guy that coached him, is a bigger concern. I still have faith that Bowden, and to a lesser but still useful extent Tressel, have put some far-reaching feelers out for a new Zips Secondary coach. Between those two guys they should be able to uncover a solid replacement for Buckley. But I am getting a tad anxious as I await the announcement. Dr Z
But I am getting a tad anxious as I await the announcement.I feel the same. I'm hoping it doesn't turn into a situation where he is not replaced and someone is given more responsibility. Reminds me of this thread. I was just happy to get a GA. PS I wonder if JT is even aware of the situation? I hope the answer is yes.
