Zipgrad01
You clearly didn't read what I wrote. WE WERE BAD TONIGHT, but my god, don't go jump off a bridge. Nothing went our way today. The sun will come up tomorrow and the team will get back at it and try to get better. We have been bad the entire season. What gives you any hope that things will get better? akronzips71
The passing is just way too sloppy and Nyles has to have better awareness of where he is and what he is doing.

Quickzips
Very hard to root for the Zips after the second half performances the last two games. I don't think I've ever seen a Dambrot coached team come out of the halftime locker room with as little energy as we've had the last two games. I guess I could give a pass against Iowa State who was a top 15 team and we were coming off a hard fought game the night before. No excuse for this one. The Zips just flat out went to sleep in the second half.
bigzipguy
Zip76, Zips just cannot shoot fouls, they are a turn over machine, they cannot back-cut. Kretzer is so slow on defense it is amazing
Zip76
We have been bad the entire season. What gives you any hope that things will get better? Do yourself a favor and go cheer for a different team. I'll stick with these guys and enjoy the rest of the season as the team improves and competes for another MAC Championship and NCAA bid. bigzipguy
What makes you think that we even make it to NCAA, even worse do you really think this team can win a game in the NCAA'S??

Captain Kangaroo
Lazy, uninspired and unorganized. Add in the inability to make a free throws, and you get whipped like we did tonight. How can you give the opponent 7+ points per game by bricking 50% of your free throws? That's pathetic. A second consecutive embarrassing 2nd half by the Zips. How long until someone posts "All that matters is what we do in Cleveland"? I love that one. The past great OU, Can't, Miami, <whomever> past MAC teams don't lay eggs like that in a tourney where the opponent's names are recognizable, but whose game is mediocre. Great MAC teams win. We aren't a great MAC team. To quote Bill Murray: "That's the facts, Jack."

You can blow smoke up the team's butt, or you can call a spade a spade. Neither of the above type of Zips fan is better than the other. Valpo Zip
The most disheartening thing in this game is that we had the better talent. I would take tree, Quincy, and Reggie, and Pat over any player on the terrible SC roster. Yet they had the better discipline and the better mental preparation and half time adjustments. And how about we do something about free throw shooting next time in practice, this team practices, right?
bigzipguy
Someone posted the other day, the Zips just do not look to be in top physical condition. Think he is right.

Zipgrad01
What is wrong with this team? It isnt talent. I dont know, but it doesnt seem like these guys get along very well. You can just see in their body language that they dont seem to care. That is very troubling if this is the case.
GP1
What is wrong with this team? It isnt talent. Great question. Here is the problem as I see it. Too many one trick ponies. Kretzer for example, good 3 shooter, not good at anything else. When too many players are only good at only one thing, the scouting report catches up really quickly and in game adjustments are easy to make against Akron. I was struck earlier in the game when the announcer mentioned that McAdams only had 1 turnover in something like 130 minutes of play. Basically, he and Kretzer stand out at the 3 point line and do nothing else.
Dave in Green
Exactly what I was afraid of after seeing what the Gamecocks did to Saint Mary's. South Carolina is not a highly skilled team, but they have a lot of energy and endurance. They ran by the Zips like the Zips were stuck in mud. I'm sick and tired of listening to announcers describing the Zips as "out of gas" in the second half of games. Why? Why are the Zips out of gas when the other team is running as fast as they were in the first half? I'm willing to have a little patience for these players to come together as a team. You can't bring in a juco combo guard and a wing who just sat out a year as your PG rotation and expect instant success. It's going to take the whole season for the team chemistry to come together. But I am losing patience with the Zips running out of gas. There's no excuse for that when you're running a deep rotation. Other teams have multiple players averaging 30+ minutes per game without running out of gas. Cancel Zips basketball practice and start getting these guys to run marathons and build the physical endurance required to play college basketball at a high level for 40 minutes. I want to see 5 Zips on court every minute of every game who have as much or more energy than their opponents.
skip-zip
Two different nights...two different ways to wear a team down. That's the way I saw it. Iowa State ran us to death in the 2nd half. South Carolina pounded us in the paint in the 2nd half. End of story.

RowdyZip
The last two second halves in Hawaii were every bit as bad as the first half vs Detroit. I have faith they'll get the consistency needed, but tonight was hard to watch. The one thing that stood out to me in the tournament was Jake's poor play. I've got to wonder if that ankle is still an issue for him. Slow on D and his shot is off (plus forcing WAY too deep on the 3s).
skip-zip
How long until someone posts "All that matters is what we do in Cleveland"? I love that one. You should have read before you posted. I think I already saw it. And it ticks me off just as much. This basketball program is not growing. Disappointing. And some people seem to be fine with that and satisfied to wait until March and forget about the last two games of this tournament, and the MTSU and St. Marys games. Not me. I want a team that's hungry to do more.
akronzips71
In the first game Tree pounded it in the middle and got them into foul trouble when they tried to defend him. The next two games we abandoned that game plan and went to taking wild shots all over the place. Instead of playing to our strength we are playing to our weaknesses. Big Dog missed a lot of bunnies. SO did Zeke when he was a rookie. He will be fine down the road. Needs to learn to hold the ball high, just like Zeke was afflicted with. Big guys get the ball taken away and blocked when they play like that. Takes time, he will get it.

RowdyZip
None of us WANT it to be about "3 days at the Q," but barring winning all the rest of the games, we're not getting at large. Even then it'd be doubtful. I think it'd take a 30-win, top 25 rpi resumé for a MAC team to get consideration. C'est last vie. Had our chance in a marquee tournament, but 40 minutes of shitty basketball doomed us.
