ZachTheZip
http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/01...coach_john.html Offensive line coach John Peterson is leaving UAB to accept a position at Akron. Couldn't ask for a better hire.
Captain Kangaroo
Joins a growing list of Akron assistants that return to UA. His o-lines under Owens were always good. I wish the circumstances of his hire were different, but I am glad he's back at UA. Look forward to seeing him once again at the golf outing. johnnyzip84
They're jumping ship at UAB, even at the top. This is an excellent hire, and it is at least partially indicative of the general perception that Zip football is on the upswing. I hope Coach Peterson is here for a long stay this go around and I certainly don't want to see him leave for Oxford EVER again. That left a bad taste in some of his player's mouths. ZachTheZip
https://twitter.com/coachjpete/status/555481674352721920He just got hired away by Pitt. I wonder if we beat them at home this season, if they'll fire him.
Captain Kangaroo
Not a shocker... that's the way that guy rolls. Hope we don't hire him a 3rd time.Next man up.

That left a bad taste in some of his player's mouths.I wanted a mulligan on this just as soon as I saw that butt-munch and his foursome playing Hang on Sloopy at the ZIP golf outing last summer. Now after watching his less than stellar work with the O-Line this year, I'm glad he's gone. I know some ex-Zip linemen who were pissed when he left for Miami the 1st time. Good luck with that guy, Pitt. Ten bucks says he never learns "Hail to Pitt".
K92
That's message board gold right there. Johnny Zip calling out Peterson as a butt munch. It doesn't get any better than that, my friends.
skip-zip
Unless he was playing that Snoopy song at our golf outing and chanting Z-I-P-S, then he's a butt-munch in my book too. My wife and I do the Z-I-P-S to that song every time we go to a bar and someone decides to play it.Plus, I thought the guy went to blOSU? Why was he singing a song about OHIO University? I'm confused.
johnnyzip84
After thinking about it some, it was either Hang on Sloopy or the OSU fight song. Either way, it was ridiculous to hear at a Zip outing. I don't expect that Peterson will get a very warm reception at the Info next year. Buckzip
Petersen is not a good coach. Did anyone notice how the o line kept getting worse? He's never been anywhere long. Him playing his Alma Mater song at a UA function is pretty freaking weak. Glad he's gone.

K92
I don't want to make a new thread for this, but the Zips have a newcomer on the offensive coaching staff. http://www.gozips.com/sports/fball/2014-15/releases/20150115wo8yw4(Link should work now)
Dr Z
the Zips have a newcomer on the offensive coaching staff. Per your link, our cornerbacks coach must be working out since his duties have expanded.

Do we know if that is his projected role here?
Jrship35
Looks like a great hire on paper !!! I think we have some young talent on the O-Line to work with................... At least I hope we do
johnnyzip84
I think we have some young talent on the O-Line to work with................... At least I hope we do If we did, I sure wish I knew why some of them weren't contributing LAST year when several starters were forced to play through numerous injuries, some of which no doubt affected their ability to perform at a high level. Next to the all-important QB issue, the apparent lack of young, talented O-lineman is my biggest concern with this football team heading into 2015 and beyond.
