Running back Erik Haw has decided to transfer from Ohio State, apparently disappointed over his spot on the depth chart.Haw, a third-year sophomore, asked for his release from the Buckeyes and the request was granted, athletic department spokesman Steve Snapp told The Columbus Dispatch for a story Thursday.Haw figured to be the fourth-string tailback in the fall behind starter Antonio Pittman, Maurice Wells and freshman Chris Wells. Haw played in four games last season, rushing for 61 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries and catching two passes for six yards. There are three or four schools Haw is considering, said Alan Jones, his former high school football coach at Columbus Independence."He doesn't see the possibility of playing at OSU," Jones said. "He feels he's paid his dues and now it's time to move on."Haw was cited in May 2005 after a university police officer saw him smoking a marijuana cigarette while standing outside a dormitory. He pleaded guilty to an amended charge of disorderly conduct and entered a drug education program.Snapp also said cornerback Mike Roberts has transferred to Indiana.

Erik Haw, RB, Columbus Independence (Insiders #58 RB )Haw (5-11, 210) was a finalist for the Ohio Mr. Football award after rushing for 3,030 yards and scoring 29 touchdowns over his team’s 10-game regular season and three playoff games. Ended up averaging over 8 yards a carry. Earned co-Ohio Associated Press state offensive player of the year honors in Division II. Haw turned 40-yard times of 4.21 and 4.28 seconds at the OSU camp last summer. He was immediately offered and accepted on July 3. He was also interested in Michigan. Haw was ranked as Ohio’s fourth-best prospect by Ohio High. He is ranked as the nation’s 11th-best running back by SuperPrep and No. 18 nationally at the position by ESPN.com’s Tom Lemming. Holds a 3.0 GPA and scored a 17 on the ACT. Kirk's Analysis: Star ranking: Nationally, Haw didn't get the rankings he should have since he didn't really explode onto the recruiting scene until the summer of '03, but Ohioans know that he's one of the best. He's a blazing fast back with great tools and strength. He can be a workhorse or a game-breaker. He's experienced a meteoric rise since June of '03, and you can expect that to continue. When talking to him, there's a sense that there's something special about Haw as a player and person.67_EricHaw.JPG2818348_200X150.jpgPredicted top 5 "breakout" player in Big Ten last year????Spring "star" in last years battle for starting job???Michigan RB knew about it in FebruaryFebruary 22 2006 06:50 PMJust as soon as the recruiting season has wrapped, it has already started. And, with that, you have new information surfacing that makes you scratch your head. Case in point is an article today by Michigan scout.com site, GoBlueWolverine. In getting updates on '07 prospects, they interviewed(premium link) Warren Harding (OH) RB, Daniel Herron who had this to say about the Ohio State running back situation:"They're pretty loaded at running back and they just got that Wells dude, But they told me they have two running backs that are going to transfer."

A caller on Rivals Radio this morning said that Haw was headed to UCLA. I caught the tale end of the call, so I didn't get all the details. Why UCLA? I dunno.

Everbody at Rivals say alot of things and things end up to be different... I heard that UCLA was one of the schools he was looking at from Rivals as well. Nobody gave a reason but I wouldnt see the reason in it. I could see him at 1AA before UCLA. Although you can never be deep enough at Running-back and I'd like to see him run all over OSu in The Shoe in an Akron jersey.

If he's truly a third-year soph, I can't see him transferring to a 1-A. However I do see him fitting in at UCLA (University at the Corner of Lincoln Avenue): YSU

Ex-Ohio State running back transfers to Jackson StateAssociated PressJACKSON, Miss. - Former Ohio State running back Erik Haw says he will transfer to Jackson State, a Division I-AA school.Haw, a 6-1, 212-pound sophomore who has three years of eligibility remaining, rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries last season for the Buckeyes. Haw said he decided to transfer after learning he would likely be low on the depth chart at running back going into this year.Haw said he picked the Tigers over UCLA, Arizona State, Rutgers and West Virginia.By transferring to Jackson State, he is eligible to play immediately instead of having to sit out a season if he went to another Division I-A school."I wanted to play right away. That's the biggest reason I chose Jackson State," Haw said.Haw went to Independence High School in Columbus, Ohio. He played in four games with the Buckeyes in 2005.

Jackson, MS? Why not just rob a bank and go to jail? He would be in a better place. The only thing worth going to in Jackson is a restaurant called Schimmel's. It's a really nice place right next to the Egg Bowl. Second best red snapper I have ever eaten next to Earnest's Orleans in Shreveport, LA.I should start doing a restaurant review for the cities UofA travels to so the fans on ZipsNation know where to go to eat a good meal. I sure do like to eat a good meal.
